Interior is completely stripped, ready to make a bulkhead box, but again, that involves waiting for the subframe to get everything to size!
Got given a pretty much brand new, SIP turbomig 150, only ever used twice! Guy had a three phase welder to use at his unit, bought this for home use, and found it quicker just to pop to his unit! Not renowned for being the best welders, but with the eurotorch conversion, fresh wire, and a wire feed brace to stop it slipping, will be perfectly adequete!
Found a cheap supplier of wire for rewiring the car, so will order that on Monday morning - all amperages, 50 metre rolls for £7 a roll! Dingbro Inverness, so will be down on the van monday afternoon!
Not much else to say apart from that. Only other thing I've done is grind off the brackets from the bulkhead, insert a few grommets here and there, drill a few holes, and start to remove the old underseal from the underside of the car!
Will have the subframe in 3 or 4 weeks, then we'll begin to see progress!

Bulk pack will do, and thats £80!

Get that stuff down, and some underlay ontop from your local carpet place, and your ears will think you're rolling in a Bentley!

Removed the bulkhead bracket, and ground everything smooth - will grind the same on the other side to get a nice finish!
About 5 layers of zinc primer on there!

Did a quick spray job on the door, just to check the repair was adequete, needs a TINY bit of filler, or even a few coats of primer will do it! Not rough, and no rust - just not level with the original paint - will be rubbing the whole car back for a respray sometime though!

My boredom is dangerous - my lovely interior has gone! Treated some minor rust either corner of the windscreen and zinc primed. Looks a mess atm, but its only skin deep! make up my new interior and she'll be as good as new!

The debinned corner... Primed. Need to get a hoover in the car though, or carpet!

Becoming a bit more organised!

Some more organisation!

The welder and regulator, very kindly given in exchange for an old motorbike engine! Did some work on the wire feeder today, and she's now so smooth!

Looking lonely! Cant wait to get her outside and rolling, to get some decent pictures and some space to work!

Lovely lovely grommets, so round and smooth! I love a well fitted grommet, makes your job feel 10x more professional!

Fitting a new battery/starter cable - probably wont take the load, its only 150amp cable - should be okay for short bursts, like starting, right?
Ran it half way, inside - will be VERY well insulated, I know I shouldnt, but I hate cables underneath cars, they've only ever caused problems on our vans!

Doesnt look neat, but thats just the dust everywhere! Had to cut the sound deadening, and try to drill a pretty big hole using small drill bits, but I finally managed!
Needs clips, and I also need to build my dashboard before I take it any further as theres an isolater to go in line!

It probably isn't a big enough cable for a starter cable, in which case, if I have problems, I'll use it for stuff like fuel pump, ecu power ect, and run a seperate wire for the starter, but I'm willing to give it a shot, as it was sold as starter motor cable!

Handy little guide - Clicky
Nice tidy bit of organising by the way

Thanks for the link, pretty useful - gives a good idea of current rating by size too!
I try to keep as tidy as possible, but a few hours work, and it's all a mess again! Notice you're on the whiteboard, I haven't forgotten! I'm just still penniless, hence only having enough starter cable to do half of the car! Next pay packet is going to allspeed, then last week of November/start of december, I'll be onto you for the bracket!

Don't worry about the bracket, like I said before its not going anywhere and I'm not in a rush for the funds, its got your name on it already and its stored away so its not in the way here
I don't think I still got my old mini starter cable about, if you got yours then measure the outside diameter and check it against that link, should put your mind at ease

I found my old mini battery cable, its about 9.8mm outside diameter (some road crud on it) the one I'm now using is about 9.7mm so measure the one you got, if its around the same 9.5 - 9.8mm then your ok, if its alot less like 7.5mm (clicky link above) then it might not have enough ooomph
If the one you got is ok and you got some waxoyl lying around spray/brush it on the exposed section of the battery cable underneath just to give it some protective coating, let it dry for a couple of weeks (while you wait for your frame!) and put another coat on, thats what I done with mine, peace of mind and all that

Cable will be running inside the car, double insulated, and in a peice of trunking - making the wiring as simple as possible!
Subframe should be dispatched tommorow! And we'll have to wait and see what goodies I get for christmas!

Cleaned all the rust from around the rear windscreen, as the seal has been leaking! Sorted the seal lip out, stripped it all back, and the same with the parcel shelf! Repaired some rusty patches, and zinc primed it all!

Oh, and the most important part!

That tree looks pretty cool aswell

When you unwrap the frame the extra poundage on your wallet will make sense, it really is money well spent

Good work, heard replacing the headlining is a bit of a mission.......good luck with that

I was thinking of keeping it out - I hate the look of the original headlining, and it doesnt leave me much headroom! The car feels so much bigger without it, and theres more oppurtunities for decent interior lighting! I've got a friend who does flocking, so could get it done cheap!
A nice thick flock should keep the car warmer than having nothing, and should make the car appear a bit more spacious! Will be enough to stop condensation on the roof too!
I'm hoping so! Got £12 left in my account, so it better be worth it!
