You have the choice with the Allspeed conversion. You can either use the standard mini suspension (donuts and dampers) or coilovers.

Yeah, as Stu said! Either donuts and dampers or coilovers - will build it up like the standard suspension with donuts, get her running perfect, then when I can afford it, rebuild it with coilies!

Thanks guys.

On another note, not much progress - took the wire brush to the inner wings and bulkhead, got rid of all the sound deadening, all the paint, rubbed everything back to bare metal and sprayed with zinc primer - decided to start using etch though, so when that comes it'll be reprimed!

So, the whole bay is cut perfect now, filed flat, rubbed back and primed. Got some paint coming to match the rest of the car, so will look perfect soon enough!
Just need to draw on where the bulkhead will need cut and boxed, and drill a hole for the wiper linkage as I'm now running the motor inside the car to keep a nice clean bay! Experimented with mounting posistions on Saturday, and seems fine!

Work starts on this dreaded loom tonight!

Pictures tomorrow!

What you've all been waiting for! Pictures!

Quick write up... Started stripping the interior and wiring for the cutting of the bulkhead.
Stripped out the airbag and SRS harness.
Rubbed back all rust off a panels, wings, bulkhead ect... Zinc primed, then etch primed. Bulkhead painted with AMAZING touch up paint. Wings and a-panels undersealed and waxoyled... Edges filed clean, and everything filed neat.
Now, to sort the wiring harness!

Ordered the minitec loom. Off to spain next week, and will get the subframe ordered when I get home... Yay for progress!

Perfect, cheap, tight fitting, water tight, aluminium (rust free) covers for the vents. Tight fit, and packed with underseal to keep it nice and water tight.

They fit? nice one, you sir are a genius! I've been wondering what to use on mine to cover them up, I'm not sure what can that is your using, it looks like a 500ml energy drink, do you reckon a 500ml non energy fosters can will work aswell?

Good going, I did wonder how you was gonna install some fans for cooling but also keep the water at bay for the electrics to it.....

Yeah! Perfect fit, one needed tapping on with a hammer, and the other one once held in place with underseal isn't budging atall!

Monster is the same size as a fosters can, so should do, just check it's aluminium, or well protected!

Started to sort the rust bubbles in the door, need filler, but rubbed back and rust removed. Will do for now as the car is being resprayed when done.
Rubbed back, Kurusted, rubbed back some more, kurusted some more and etch primed. Mark needs filled, but will do until it's resprayed!

Indicator, side repeater, headlight/dip wiring in place on either side, through some small holes drilled by the vents - much tidier than standard!
Can also see the vent covers here.

Pulled ALL wiring into the interior of the car so I can sort it all out a bit easier - It's a mess, but easier to start to deal with!

Have I missed something here, are you making a new hole in the bulkhead to pass the wiring loom through, did you not have the old removable section held in with 4 screws that had a hole?

Made two little holes near the vents on each side to do the wiring for side repeaters, indicators and headlights. The engine loom shall come through below the bulkhead cross member to keep it all a bit more 'hidden'

The front end will be hinged, upwards. Not removable - like so:

That way, the wiring coming through from the wings can be this stuff - http://www.smallpart...browse=16414651 - which will allow enough stretch for the front end to open without damaging wires!

The piston head picture errrm has no picture, do you mean like Gingermonkeys one where it lifts up towards the windscreen or the other way round? if it goes towards the windscreen then obviously you won't be able to drop the engine in unless its removable

Would it not be easier just to make it removable? I mean its an absolute godsend when working on and around it and if yours will be lifting up towards the front it still might get in the way a bit when working around the engine

Also, its hardly gonna be more secure being hinged at the bottom compared with a fully removable one? unless its welded down like from the factory then it won't make a difference, it'll still give if you get into a prang

If its just for looks then ignore all the above

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by that, think we're as confused as each other - I didn't make it very clear.

It will be hinged, as well as removable... But will only be removed on rare occasions, so the wiring when it's removed is no problem. I've been planning the wiring side of things for the hinge feature, allowing it to move a certain amount. It will be removable though, just not in a hurry...

Not seen gingermonkeys, I dont think...

Like this two second diagram... But will be removable with a few bolts, somehow!

If I'm honest, I haven't thought about front ends yet, just trying to keep the wiring as neat as possible!

So I thought it was ONLY gonna be hinged but not removable, I see what you mean now

Ahh, yeah, I see how that arose. I meant that it would be hinged, and only removed on rare occasions, for work. Sorry!
