looking good Jamie, must be close to a start up? how you getting on with the wiring?

Kieran

Thanks Kieran - ALL engine wiring is done and hidden away now, just need to sort the manifold so I can connect up an o2 sensor! Pics to follow, all wires have been tucked out of sight - looks clean!

awesome job cant wait to see a video of it running

Looking good, can't wait to see this hit the road. I can't remember if you changed the final drive or not though.

Thanks guys! Appreciate all the support I'm getting on here!

Looks amazing mate, the rocker cover looks like some anime gore fest :shifty:

You can get a app for iphone called "Flash light" and you can turn it on and off and it uses the iphone's flash (plus its free!!!), is so useful haha !

Haha yeah, thanks! It's a bit of a one off I think - supposed to be a 'rising sun' but I'll go with an anime gore fest ;)
As for the app - I have that... I actually needed the camera as I couldnt get my head far enough in there to see with my own eyes, so worked out quite well!

Couldn't see much due to the position of it behind the inlet manifold, so came up with a little genius idea to see if the breathers were pressed down in place properly!

iPhone on, video mode, built in torch on... Bingo!

Genius indeed!

I've learnt a couple of new tricks from your build, keep at it, and the ideas

Thanks Mate, started to slow down a bit more (is that even possible?) and concentrate on doing it right - hopefully just once!

i am very very jel not only off your car but your craftsman ship :), well done mate

Thank you! Appreciate your comments!

That rocker cover is sick mate :D

As above, thanks! Think it'll finish off the engine bay nicely!

Nothing big to update, just been fixing little bits and bobs...

Driveshafts ordered. Halfshaft in and bolted up. Driveshafts should be here in the next two days as they were ordered a fortnight ago!

I know it's slightly out of focus, but is this all the halfshaft seals with Kam?
Posted Image

Out of focus again - silly phone!

The terminals were snapped on my reversing light switch. Honda wanted £35 for a new one, so I set about fixing it!
Posted Image

Soldered in two spade connectors, and ran wires to it! Insulated it with two layers of heatshrink and a shitload of tape as it's in quite an exposed posistion on the gearbox!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Ran the cable up over the box, pclipped it to this bracket.

All other cables on the car were tucked away under the inlet manifold and dizzy. Looks a mess here but it's better than having a loom hanging about!

Posted Image

Posted Image

The rest of the loom was clipped in place to the arch, and ran above the shock mount. Looks surprisingly tidy considering how many wires this engine actually needs!

Next, I found another broken switch. This time the thermosender for the fan relay. Bugger! The plug was completely broken, but I DID find two terminals still on it! Turns out they fit the little 1.3mm female spades perfectly!

So, while mother was out I raided the kitchen to test it works before trying to fix the connection. Clicked on and off at approximately 86 degrees, so I'm happy with that!
Posted Image

Posted Image

Worked fine, so another two wires were added, and taped up!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Fitted back in place with a thin smear of hondabond as there were signs of a coolant leak from this...

Posted Image

Jamies fix - 5 pence, max... Honda? £61. Winning again.

Sorry Jamie, only just caught up, yeah thats fine mate completely normal, the poor excuse of shielding is just there to keep dirt at bay, also comes in handy though when its sitting flush so you know your halfshaft is fitted fully

Thanks mate - wasn't too sure as it didnt look to secure a fitment, but I guess time will tell! The bolts on the half shaft are in the block fine, so it shouldn't be an issue!

On the progress front, still waiting for parts!

Carbon Miglia arches, CV Joints and driveshafts all due on monday!
Front end due the end of month!

Thats the end of progress for a while though, works van went bang at the start of the week (vivaro gearboxes) So money is going on a new one!

148k actually, first problem we've had since new on an 05! I've taken the van for myself and will fit a new slave cylinder (inside the box on vivaros) whenever I get time, but it cant be off the road... didnt even hesitate, it's been trouble free, so another vivaro to be picked up this week! ;)

Second hand off a guy on here, £90 for them! Bargain!

Going extended fibreglass for now, but will try over time to get it back into an exposed weave carbon standard front, as I'm going to try and shave as much weight off as possible when it's on the road!

Exactly - I need to get it driving, then I'll concentrate on shrinking it all down at weekends! Might have big plans for this next winter anyway ;)

So, they came - not got much work done though!

Driveshafts & Cv's came! Need wheelbearings though!

Posted Image

Carbon miglias - £90 - bargain! Need some treatment but they'll do!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Just rested them on the wheels to get an idea of width!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Started giving a few areas a clean up - put a coat of zinc primer where the arches are going to sit incase it wears through the paint, even with the rubber strip - extra protection never harms!
The back end needs a lot of attention but that comes later in the year with some major work ;) Secrets for now!

Posted Image

Cleaned up the seam too!

Posted Image

All smoothed off!

Posted Image

Quick coat of green - only temporary to get an idea of the look...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Excuse the dead mouse in the above pic - bit of a problem!

One arch mounted!

Posted Image

Back on all fours!

Posted Image

Excuse the squint vtec sticker - put it on, used a spirit level but while the car was on the ramps - my mistake! Decided I want them in white anyway!

Mate I get more and more jeaous every post you make, I think I'm gonna have to start searching scrapyards for a donor Honda. I think I'll go with a clubby though.

Thanks mate! I guess the MOD MOT testers would be pretty strict with it though - so would no doubt require bringing to the UK for an SVA...

Spent a few hours working on these arches!

Dull, faded carbon -

Posted Image

Posted Image

Scrubbed the old clear coat off with wire wool, till it was smooth - then repeated once wet. Ran them under the tap to check they were clean enough for lacquer, and then built up 4 or 5 light coats on each!

Posted Image

Last coat of lacquer was drying in the above pic!

Then again, smoothed off with a fine steel wool... then brass wool. Polished for about an hour each with a Maguiars polish, buffed, then waxed with collinite 476 and allowed to go a haze - that was then wiped off with a peice of newspaper, and buffed up with a fresh sheet (newspaper is amazing for getting a good finish on waxed paintwork)

Both arches have been lacquered with exactly the same process in the next photo - but I'm sure you can tell which one has had the polish, wax and buffing!

Posted Image

Both done now!

Posted Image

They took about 7 hours in total... but WELL worth it - what a difference it's made!

Posted Image

Quick before and after!

Also filled a small hole in the passenger door, only a bodge until I get CF door skins!

Needs sanded and a deep build primer now!
