Always good to see the engine go I'n looks like you been working hard did you ring that guy i gave you the number for

Yeah - was a big releif! A years prep work payed off! Not yet buddy, gonna see if my loom works first!

Holy jeeeeesus mate thats some update! You've really cracked on

I sold my complete b16 throttle body on and my current throttle body is aftermarket but I used the TPS off the type-r TB I bought as the aftermarket one didn't have one, so none here I'm afraid

Again I had a knock sensor with the type-r block but I didn't need it for my current one so I sold that on aswell >_<

Tie rods adjustments are a biaaatch-ass!

Love the alternator clip positioning, simple but effective!

I know you said you shimmed the engine position and its level and it might just be the pictures but the cam side still looks a tad high to me, I found this with mine, unless the rocker cover is precisely level with the head when tightened down on the gasket then its hard to take the reading from the top

Have a good look from the front, use the body lines (I know mini bodies aint renowned for there straightness!) use the frame lines etc go by eye

Cracking progress though, impressed, keep at it!

Aha Aye! Been pretty busy!

Ahh bugger, need both - but guess what? Cant find them anywhere! Even Tegiwa uk couldn't point me in the right direction!

I'm not looking forward to doing the alignment, hopefully the tie rods wont need touched, but that cant be guaranteed yet!

Was feeling a little bit inventive! Keeps the wires much tidier! But now I'm having problems with the other plug on the alternator clearing the manifold - dont know why it's an issue all of a sudden!

The cam side is about 5mm higher - measured and remeasured because I too thought it looked higher - wont have access to an engine crane for a few weeks now, so its going to have to do for the first start, but will be corrected before it goes on the road!

Thanks mate - having someone with your knowledge on here has been a BIG help! Cheers!

Wow, that was some serious progress, not far off first start now I bet?

Thanks mate - looking the next two weeks... Got the bores sprayed with a bit of plusgas, and turned it over by hand... Now just need oil, and fuel and cooling systems!

More updates...

Worked a little bit on 'stance' - or in my eyes, road holding... Widened the track a fair bit! Added 1" spacers all round, and have 13x7's coming this weekend - so will be a good 2 inches wider!

As you'll see - she's a bit wider now, so should be a bit more positive on the road, and give the effect of lowering it about half an inch, without loosing practicality!

Now its close to first start, I've given the engine a bit of a makeover!

Quick once over with a can of engine enamel!

Also fitted the inlet manifold and got the fuel rail/injectors bolted in!

I got a thick 'thermal' gasket from Tegiwa to help keep intake temps down, looks a nice little peice of kit!

Before fitting my exhaust manifold, I replaced all the studs! No more mild steel. Gone from mild steel to stainless steel to compliment the manifold.

Tightened the drill chuck up on the old ones to get them out!

You can see I had a broken stud that I couldnt get out! Will work on it when I get some new drill bits!

I placed the rad in posistion just to make me think I was closer to being done! I'll treat myself to a new alu one when I can afford it - a lot of damaged fins on this one!

Looks a bit big? We'll have to posistion it properly when I get hoses and a front end!

A shot after the spacers were fitted... Looking nice and wide!

Lovely build so far and I'm loving the rocker cover.

However please do not use those spacers you have bought! The ones that screw onto the existing studs are not safe they have been reports form people that sometimes the original studs have snapped under the extra load.!

Oh no, dont worry stu! They're only temporary, they came from a friend with a ford focus, hence them being universal PCD. The spacings will be done with deep dish 13x8's eventually, just want the car ready for a shoot thats been booked first!
