hey when you cut out the hole in the bulkhead, write down the measurements or take a picture with measurements over the top. its handly for people to know if their making body mods way before they get all their kit! like me :)

Of course - much easier! No sweating and panting away! Thanks, it's good to finally have the shell rolling - major boost!

It's the best way, isn't it? Could of done with someone to hold the engine to stop it swinging, as I would of done exactly the same as your picture if I had an engine bay! You must of hit that fairly hard?

I will do mate - I've got a hole already, but it wasn't quite right - so my hole will be bigger than it needs to be, but awfully convenient! I'll take pictures, measurements, whatever you need!

Aha aye, it isn't light!

Dont remind me - I was gonna bolt it all together, but can I get that bloody roll pin out of the linkages? Not a chance! Going to try again today to get the linkages off, and bolt the box up!

Thanks everyone!

We had put a front panel repair section on it, and it had just torn were the engine went all of a sudden.

Something to stop it swaying would be good, that was my job.

Ahh right!

Lucky, I didnt have anyone to stop it swinging, I just had to take my time! Pretty good aim though ;)

Done a bit of work on my bulkhead box today. Coming along nicely.
Cut the crossmember, and squared up the hole a bit more.

Posted Image

I filed off the edges of the cuts, made them smooth and removed any 'torn' material.

I wasn't too keen with the idea of having the crossmember open like this, so made some plates to cover the ends.

Seam welded, and primed. Not the neatest, but I'm happy with it! I'll probably go over the welds once the box is made, and smooth everything off.

Posted Image

I made up the 'bottom' of the box - I left a lip, slotted it, and folded it around the lip left from the crossmember - it's spot welded underneath, and ontop. I slotted it so I could form it to the 'curve' of the crossmember. I'll get this made up, make another few welds on here, then apply some neat seam sealer.
I also seam welded the passenger side of the box in place.

Posted Image

Shoved some weld through etch primer on, just till tommorow - as the garage is damp.

Didn't bother with it - thought I'd get the bulkhead box done first! Thanks for asking though!

Is that good stuff? was the 'bulk' pack enough to do the whole car?

Cheers

Cracking work Jamie! does machine mart sell one those jcb's? I cant find it in there catalogue?

Bulkhead box looks good so far, you've cut enough height out so you'll be fine, just make sure you got your heater matrix and radio in (if its centre dash mounted) as your rear bulkhead panel will sit pretty dam close to it, the more clearance you got around inlet the better, more for insanity purposes actually.......

Now, need to try and source a rear engine mount for the engine, and the nuts for the passenger side mount! Kam, you got any lying around?

Nuts? I got nuts but none lying around unfortunately :P

How come your chasing a rear engine mount? I'm a bit con-foozed-dot-com over here??????

You use the cutsom rear mount and bracket that came with your allspeed frame, you can't use any donor engine mounts? You did get the the rear mount and bracket with the frame yeah?
