GREAT NEWS
Spraying has started :D

I bought a cheap and cheerful 2.0mm HVLP ( High Volume Low Pressure ) to apply the High Build with as you really dont need anything fancy for this stage -
Posted Image

First of all i sprayed the boot to see how things went -
Posted Image

I mixed it a bit thicker than i should of done but not to worry, It will just take a bit more sanding -
Posted Image

I then painted the roof -
Posted Image

Posted Image

Once that was done i masked of the rear for paint -
Posted Image

It was then sprayed -
Posted Image

Posted Image

As the compressor i have isnt large enough to spray the whole car im doing it in 4 sections ( Front, Back, Either Side )

I masked of the passenger side ready for High Build -
Posted Image

Posted Image

It was then painted ( Not that it looks any different in the photos ) -
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Then damasked -
Posted Image

So far its going very well, I havnt had any runs yet.
For those of you that are interested im using Upol High Build and Mixing it 4 to 1 and 20% thinners

All comments are very welcome
There should be another update in the next few days with the whole car in High Build

Thanks
Andrew.

Thanks very much Harry
And Tom I'm not sure yet as I have a job in a spray shop and my boss said he'd spray it as a favour but the problem I have is getting the Mini to the spray shop.

i say do it yourself looks like you no how to do it anyway from the photos. if it did go wrong you could allways let it go dry and then give it your boss lol keep up the good work.

Andrew,

very jelous pal, looking very nice, are you spraying the top coat on the high build as it is or are you rubbing the high build down first?? If no rubbing down then it is really looking fine given the high build was not perfect as you said.

Wish I had a bl%%&y garage !!

Graham

Yes Tom I'd love to have a go at spraying it myself so ill just have to have a think about it.
Or I could spray it myself and if I don't like it just give it to the boss.

Thanks very much Graham, No it will be getting rubbed down as I don't want the finish to be orange peeley so every single coat is going to be sanded.

Andrew.

Got another update for you.
Got the drivers side in High Build today -
Posted Image

It went very well with no runs at all -
Posted Image

I'm especially happy at how its turned out considering it looked like this at one point -
Posted Image

And it now looks like this -
Posted Image

Not to shabby for my first even restoration.
More updates soon

Andrew.
