You'll be surprised how easy the boot floor is to fit.

I hope so mate.  What could possibly go wrong?  :D

Quick update.

I've got the boot floor out now and have started stripping off all the leftover bits of metal. I took loads of measurements beforehand and have painted either side of the old floor to give me a good idea of where the new one should go. I've also left the remains of the floor to arch brackets in place to also aid lining up.

If anyone can spot any glaring errors please speak up

You'll need to clean all that rust off with a wire wheel and treat it before you offer the floor up, you probably already know that. Keep it up and you'll be at next year's l2b

Only had a couple of hours in the garage today but managed to remove (most of) the remaining bits of the old boot floor.

I offered up the new boot floor to see how well it fitted and I was pleasantly surprised.

The front of the panel was a couple of MM too high, and the back was a couple of MM too low, that turned out to be where I hadn't removed the strips of old boot floor from the bottom corners of the rear quarter panels and some lines of weld on the companion bin filler panels.

The lining up of these brackets isn't a million miles off either. Fingers crossed once the last remnants of the old boot floor are removed we should be cooking with gas.  :proud:

It will be going back to Reynard Bronze I'm afraid guys. I've never liked the green if I'm honest.

I love your colour Jimmy, one of the best colours for a GT and quite rare too.

Hi Jimmy.

Actual physical progress, no. But I have bought all the panels I need to complete the rear end. Hopefully one day soon I'll have an update.

How's yours doing, is it still a daily?

Good luck with the rear end, I used it as a daily for 3 months, I began to hate it lol. I did a 100 miles round trip on Saturday through Cheshire into Shropshire, great fun

Wow, another 4+ years has gone by but you guys are getting an update whether you like it or not!! Well that's if any of you are still here?  :D

I've managed to get a few hours in every Friday since the end of January due to my work going down to four days a week and I've managed to keep it up.

I started off with removing the rear bulkhead as the bottom of the old one was long gone and I wanted to make sure the boot floor was at the right height.

I decided that while all that was out of the way I'd remove the crispy remnants of the closing panels and mock up the new ones to make sure everything would line up when I welded in the boot floor/seat base. I've cut the companion bins out of the way as these will be getting replaced one day.

The top of the heelboard was very thin in a couple of places so this became my first bit of fabrication. I was pretty pleased with how it went.

I practised my plug welds and I had my first test of the spot welder too.

Prepped the rear seat assembly by drilling holes and removing paint.

Plug welded the base to the heelboard. There were a couple of welds that went a bit wrong so i drilled them out and redone them. Got that covered with primer and a bit of paint to seal it.

Then plug welded the back to the base and got some primer on that. I hope to take the tops off the higher welds next week.

It doesn't sound like much when you say it like that but it's taken me ages to get this far. I've also bought a pair of rear arches, a complete rear panel and a R/H quarter panel, so that should be enough to keep me busy for a while.

Thanks for looking, I'll try and keep this regularly updated from now on.
