This is going to be a looong topic :D

Read some of the rebuild topics in the projects section, you'll soon spot a common (brown crumbly) theme.

In a word Rust, Rust and more Rust!! ....okay that's three words but they were all the same one :)

A 60's model will probably have had many of the panels replaced a number of times and if this hasn't been done properly then that could also be a problem. In short most other problems can be sorted on a mini relatively cheaply and easily (which is actually a big part of the classic minis appeal), but bodywork can be very expensive, particularly if you are paying someone else to do the work. So try and get yourself the most solid rust free mini that you can, mechanical problems and everything else are much less important as they are more easily and cheaply fixed. :D

You will find one of the biggest issues being previous owner syndrome.

This is where a previous owner has seen fit to use seam sealer to hold in patches, weld metal either side of rust to give the illusion of repairs and many many other magical quick fixes that take ages to sort out properly once damage has been done.
