ull have to take it apart to be fair and sure. take the sterring wheel off with either an inch and 5/16th socket (34mmish) or a 29mm one if its a later steering wheel. then remove the sheer bolts from the column bracket (or through bolt if its got a drop bracket fitted) then undo the pinch bolt at the bottom of the column near the floor with 2 7/16th spacers. pull the column off and ull then be able to actually slide theouter column up off the inner one even with the ignition lock still on as its cut like a semi circle to allow the outer to be slid off the inner without keys. if its just the barrel thats damaged, drill off the sheer bolts under the cowell onto the ignition barrel and replace with a new one if u feel confident of drilling them in situe.remove the barrel and refit new one with new sheer bolts. (be careful as if new bolts are not supplied check the threads as old ones are 5/16th unf thread but later ones have been known to be m8)

Have you checked which way your steering wheel is facing when you try to engage the steering lock. I thought mine was broken but now I know it only works with the steering wheel centred. Maybe worth considering, an easy check before you replace anything! ;)
