Rover Mini Cooper 1992
I have just purchased a pair of Chrome Windscreen Wipers off of Huddersfield Mini Spares and can't find a guide anywhere on how to fit them.
Could anyone give me a step by step guide of how to remove the old ones and fit the new ones.
Would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Anton

I'll guess you mean the wiper arms too,

Find an open ended spanner that'll fit behind the arms on their spindles & lever them up. A rag to protect the chrome is a good idea too.

Ethel, on the earlier cars there was sometimes a spring clip inside the mounting socket of the wiper arm. Was that discontinued in later cars like this 1992? Where that spring clip is present it is very easy to remove the arm by folding the arm up to be perpendicular to the glass, locating the clip, and depressing the clip with a flat blade screwdriver.

Regardless of whether the spring clip is on the later cars, there is another minor step I would suggest. Before starting, turn the ignition key to the run position and run the wipers just long enough for about 1/2 of an "up stroke" so they are moving away from the rest position but before they reach the reversal. Take each arm and gently push it back downwards towards the rest position. This will make sure all the slack is out of the drive mechanism. Now mark the position of each wiper arm on the glass using tape. When you put the new arms on, push them downward towards the rest position. Make sure the position the arms stop at is where your tape marks are. If not, remove the arm and move over one or two spline teeth, then repeat. This will put the new arms in the same position as the old ones without fiddling about making multiple adjustments.

Of course... if your old wiper arms were on in the wrong location... the method above only perpetuates that.

That's a nice link. Thanks for posting it.

The link also implies that the arms I'm familiar with must have been dropped at some point during production.
