I love the supercharger kits!!!! Does it give that amazing supercharger whine?
Yeah, the supercharger whine is fun!

OMFG. That's a rediculous collection. I'm jealous...
Ha ha.....Aye, I prefer Mpi versions! I think you can tell!! Oh, and other Minis!

All stunning....absolute credit to you!!
Cheers squire!

The electrical problem still remains! The engine earth cable (engine to bulkhead) has been replaced and cleaned. The earth points located on the bulkhead cross member have been removed and cleaned, using sandpaper to clean the metal surface. A new battery has been fitted which made no difference! The headlamps when switched on reduce the voltage from 15v down to 9v, sometimes 8v!
I purchased a new Rover Mpi alternator tonight for £50 to eliminate that part! This electrical fault is frustrating!!!

Thanks for the comments.

Earth straps were last replaced probably about 2005.
Battery replaced 2008 I think - check the receipts pack.
Might be worth whipping the headlights off to check the wiring as the last owner had a new front end put on and they could have mashed some wires during the work???
The IACV has caused a few issues in the past. Previously removal clean and replace, along with a new o-ring did the trick, but looks like you have that one covered.

I forked out extra and fitted a wideband lambda controller to the Emerald setup on good advice that it would result in the same if not better MPG than standard. I was young and foolish then and didnt think how on earth can 140BHP use less fuel...

I still haven't looked through the box of receipts in detail! It has been off the road for 2 weeks, I just want this electrical problem sorted so I can drive it!
A full tank of juice lasted 190 mile driving it back home testing the 'sissy' supercharger!

The new alternator is fitted and the problem remains! Now, when I turn the headlamps on, switch main beam and the two additional driving lamps come on the indicator bulbs light up! The voltage gauge plummets!!!!!

was behind you today, a19 southbound from boldon roundabout at 15.15pm
Aye, that was me! Probably heading off to Green and Whites, i think! What car do you drive now?
Coopertroper2001 - I think you're right on the short. The rear heated windscreen switch flashes when the hazzards are switched on! Some crazy stuff!!

The finally admitted defeat on the electrical issue! It's been a frustrating 2 weeks of checking, cleaning and replacing things! I booked the car into Green and White Mini spares (The best North East Mini specialist, in my opinion) to hopefully resolve the electrical faults.
The car decided to not display the electrical faults (indicators glowing, dashboard instruments flashing with indicators etc) when I got to the Green and White Mini spares! Typical!!!

Hopefully I can drive the car this weekend!

I am a sucker for electrical troubleshooting. That does not mean I am an expert. Usually, weird behavior like like flashing or dim lights is caused by poor ground/earth path for the particular circuits. It turns out that the circuits have a common connection to ground. So when you load up a circuit with more power that can not reach ground properly the other circuits with the common ground not active at the time see some voltage (sort of in reverse) and behave erratically.
Go to post #40 of the following link and open the pdf file named "Electrical_Library.pdf"
http://www.theminifo...ps/page__st__30
Find page 191 of the pdf file. It shows connector 550 which is the ground path for all the circuits giving you trouble. Check the connection and the associated ground lug are clean and hopefully that should solve your problem.
Good luck,
Ivan
