I am looking to buy a standard mg metro camshaft for my 998 turbo build as i was told these were a good camshaft for a 998 turbo. And i came across a fella that has various camshafts in stock on the net but i had to e-mail to see if he has the one i want and he said he had a std metro KENT cam and a FAI 1275/1300 BMC cam and im wondering if these are what im looking for. Also would the std metro cam he has be a kent 500.

Dunno what you mean by FAI 1275/1300 cam???? No - there is nothing directly the same as the MG cam - and you will be lucky to get one for £30 - more like £100 these days..... Just use a standard 1275 cam - it will be fine - MG Rover thought so anyway..... Although actually - you mentioned earlier the SW5 cam - and while I am not at all a 'fan' of that cam normally - in this case it could well be suitable. But DO watch out for the high lift and make sure you have exhaust valve clearance.
I dont have a clue either, but i think ill just keep an eye out for a mg metro one and if all fails go with a std 1275 cam , im in no panic anyway as im a long way from tackling the engine. Im just on the look out for the bits i need. Thanks for the help.

I assume you already have a turbo head for it.....
Well i got my hands on a 12g295 head which i hope to use, its was never skimmed so has the origional 28cc chanbers that will bring my CR down a bit, might fit slightly bigger valves if my bubget allows me to, not looking too good though as all these bits and pieces are adding up, ha. I also have a metro turbo carb and manifold and a T2 turbo and megajolt are on my list, so slowly but surely im gathering the bits i need. The list just seems to be getting longer instead of shorter. ha

I've just stripped the engine on my Mainstream Cooper (which I believe has the MG metro cam) and it won't be going back in.. PM me if you're interested.
Just after buying one this evening before i saw your post, but thanks anyway
