just thought i would ask if there is a going rate for shot blasting and powder coating mini subframes.
i have never done this before but just dropped my front and rear subframes off at my local painters in nottingham, he is charging me £48 each for blasting them and powder coating them in red, i noticed a few more mini subframes there also lots of what looked like vespa and lambretta parts.

That sounds like a good price as it sounds like he does everything in house.
Scott spent just over £90 to get his rear subbie plus a load of other components powdercoated red. The company he uses send all of the parts away to get blasted which is why it costs more.
Ask him what his turnaround time is as well as we waited over 3 weeks.
Before you send your subframe off it is worthwhile checking them over really well for rust plus any damage. If you can weld then doing some reinforcing seam welds is beneficial but not the end of the world if you cannot. If there are any dings or slight bends to any edges then you can straighten them out before coating.
We actually stripped ours back to bare metal where possible and degreased them to check them over and modify/repair where needed. Time consuming but at least we knew we would get a solid and strong product back.

Mine cost £50 for the pair.
He quoted me over the phone but I double checked when I go there with them and £50 it was.
Took about a week

Chicago coatings, Mossley, Ashton -Under-Lyne (Mark)
