Hi looking for advice on where locally(Shrewsbury Shropshire) can i get my mini engine rebuilt, has anyone had any experiances of good companys who know what they are doing? my engine is a gold seal replacement i believe the number on the block is 8G199ER10260 not sure if it is a good engine to rebuild or to purchase a replacement, the engine ran when i first had the car about 3 years ago but was using loads of oil and missfiring the car is slowly being restored and i am at the point where a working engine will be a bonus..... any advise greatly appreciated.

sorry to be a pain but has no one got any info on where to get a mini engine rebuilt, all the so called mini specialists that advertise in the mini mags are a long way from where I live, there has got to be a company more local to shrewsbury that would do a good job ?????????

I don't know any mini specialist places in Shropshire, but there are a few general machining and engine building companies who can probably do it in Shrewsbury & Telford. You'd have to do a yellow pages job though. Billcar Engineering in Shrewsbury are doing my general machining (crank grind, boring, head skimming etc) and I think they can do an engine rebuilding service. They do all sorts of cars, give them a call.

There is a company down in Bridgnorth called Mini Restoration Centre or something - they have an ad in the back of Mini Mag - but i've never used them.

Other than that it's over to Wolverhampton / Birmingham to the likes of Bromsgrove Engine Services etc.

Thanks I called in to billcar engineering but they did not seem very interested so i think i will give them a miss.
So i gave Bromsgrove engine services a call and i think from the conversation they seem very knowledgeable on the A series engine and I will be taking them my engine once i have worked out how to get it out of the car!!! it cannot be that difficult surelly not sure how the driveshafts come out but got quite a few other parts to disconect before then.....

Billcar engineering said to me that they used to work on mini engines a lot in the past, and that they have someone they use for some of there engine builds who is a fan of the mini who they could get to have a look at my engine, They just did not seem to bothered at all. they are probably very good at what ever they do everyday but it did not sound like it has been mini engines for a long time.....
