Extended Warranty

would appreciate some help. Up to now, our 2007 mini cooper has been insured with mini insured however when we came to extending yesterday, they asked about modifications and we said the following had been done
exhaust manifold non standard
alloy wheels non standard
suspension
Brakes uprated
The modifications were done 2008-2009 whilst she was still under mini insured and now for some 'red tape' reason, they said they would not extend warranty even though we are not expecting them to cover non standard parts.
Her current mileage is 16092 and yes I don't use her that often, she's in vg condition and has passed her MOT twice in a row.
any suggestions and or similar situations? We have checked out warranty direct however reviews all point to con - they do what they can NOT to pay out despite the cost being less than, we want a reputable company..
Thanks,

My wife had a Jeep Grand Cherokee on which was an extended warranty. I drove it at one point and noticed that if 4WD was used there was a transmission problem developing. I called the warranty company and asked for it to be fixed at their expense. They said that as the vehicle was still going along they would not cover it. I told them that if we continued driving it then it would lead to a much higher repair cost. They said this was not their problem as because it had been reported before failure, it was our responsibility to have it repaired so that there would be no claim under the warranty for a fault we knew was developing and said this was part of 'wear & tear' and the requirement for us to service the vehicle as necessary!

Generally extended warranties for cars aren't worth the paper they're printed on. They have so many exclusions that they are very unlikely to pay out for any claim you make.
For example they don't cover 'wear and tear'. Pretty much anything that goes wrong on a car can be blamed on wear and tear.
The best option is to take the money you would have spent on the warranty, and keep it in the bank. If something goes wrong then you'll have the money to pay for it, and if (most likely) nothing goes wrong then you still have the money.
Especially on such a modern car with such a low mileage, an extended warranty is just like throwing money down the drain.
