Hi all!!

After a search for a decent Mini... going to view many and coming back disapointed on my budget I've decided to get myself on the road in something a little different.

I had this idea a long time ago truthfully, but with my Mini savings well on their way, and turning 17, all that was left to do was get myself on the road... in a Mini! Obviously because of reasons mentioned above it wasnt to be, and so I made a visit to MetroPower and spent most of my weekends and spare time on there. From then on, I was pretty hooked. With the Rover on the road it gives me a decent car to run around in for a while, and also means I can get a Mini project (rather than a badly repaired MOT'd mess) and play with that, whilst still on the road.

So I checked the ebay ads, Pistonheads, Autotrader etc for weeks on ends... for both Rovers and Minis. Lots took my fancy, but when this was posted on... the car I saw everyday, locally, and for a super low reserve, I just had to make an offer! So I offered £350, and an hour later she was mine.

MOT'd till March,
TAX'd till August,
Alarm,
Immobiliser,
Rear seat belts,
Alloys,
Auxiliary heating,
Power Windows,
Sunroof.

And here she is.

It's a great option Alex. I always knew if I had a car that wasnt a Mini it'd be a rover Metro...100...114 etc. I'd quite something a bit cooler, like this which I had arranged to view prior to this being posted, but at £350 for a car with lots MOT and niceness I'm not shaking my stick!

Looks good Craig,

And like we agreed on a few days ago, there'll be a Mini someday, a proper one which is sound and safe >_<)

I'm sure you'll find a way to create your own special 114, Ratlook or Shiny (I prefer shiny.. :P )and I'm looking forward to seeing you at Mini events with your 114 Mini-support vehicle ! :))

See you @ Gaydon! ;-)

I think i like them just as much as minis. always had a soft spot for them :S my dad just doesnt understand

Got an insurance quote on a 1984 metro for 500 quid a few months back.

Put down a deposit on a bright orange one, lowered on black wheels, looked the dogs dangles but changed my mind last minute as id have the same a series running issues for a second car.

It's lovely. Standard for now. Lots of stickers (mostly mini oriented) and run plaques etc :P will definitely be lowered, and retro'd up a little. Perhaps a VVC in a year or so.

Yes please Neil!! :(

Thanks Erik. Shes a sexy little car :) Mini is definitely to come in the future! :) Lots of Mini inspired stuff on the Tro though.

Me too Alex. My dad had a few back in the day. :)

The lovely chap we bough it off (genuine, really really lovely easy going guy, could have spoken to him all day) is dropping her off tommorow at 7pm. I'm at work till 8, but my dad will be picking me up in her and we'll take her for a drive straight from work. Im gonna get home and providing its still nice and light, give her a really, really good wash. I'll head to halfords to get some touch-up paint and lovely polish before work, too.

On Friday I'm heading out with MiniJosh92, Benb12 and Samsfern to Gaydon Mini festival. We're leaving at 10am and Sam is picking up then. Im gonna get up at about 7, have a bath and then crack on the with the cleaning. If I can get the interior out tommorow I'll stick it in the garage and then work on sorting the inside out (although, it should hopefully be super clean already). Then I can give the carpet a proper good clean (maybe get the jet washer out) and hang it out in the garden for the weekend to dry.

:P Ordered plenty of stickers. Just need a Medway Mini Club and TMF sticker to finish. :)

Oh, modifications. I'm currently looking for a GTi rear spoiler:

some of these lovely spotlamps (although, I'm not confident I'll ever find some)

Laguna splitter:

Rev counter from the GTi. I think I will work on some LED lighting layout at the same time:

And a new exhaust backbox. The current one is a bit buggered, you can hear her coming to say the least.

And colour coding the bump strips, and maybe the vents on the bonnet, too. Lots more to come, but thats the main priority at the moment.

After colour coding I hope to make her look something close to this, which is currently on ebay for £1500 buy it now. It's the exact same model, and the interior is the same, too (Lovely velour).

The engine will also get lots of attention to make it look a bit lovely.

They are an awesome, reliable and lovely alternative to a Mini, and would never have existed without the Mini!

The drive is lovely, the rides great (Although she'll be lowered soon, I'm sure it wont be so good after that). For an auto she suprised me, and is actually, very quick. Cruises very nicely at 60-70 with no probs, had 90 earlier today. Sat nicely in the middle of the temp gauge even with todays heat >_<

She is definitely due a service though.

Oh, by the way, also had a new battery, and 3 new tyers on her last MOT.

And this was a bargain £6 for fun. I think it will sit nicely on my parcel shelf, I'm a little bit anal like that.

I am looking for a CD player, since it only came with cassette.

Oh, and as this is a very Rover/MG thread, I will not pass on the opportunity to show off my brothers stunning facelift ZR. It's got the twincam 16v version of my engine  Stunning car. :)

I have a set of these badges coming, too.
