hi guys, has anyone got any ideas how much it would be to sandblast and powdercoat a set of 12inch minilites...is it possible to diy the sandblasting with paint stripper and sandpaper? make it a little cheaper...or just diy the whole thing yourself?
any advise welcome
thanks
£50/wheel seems to be the average rate for stripping and painting.

Also with wheels if there is any kerbing damage this will need to be sorted or it will show through. Powder coating is not that thick so the surface does need to be a smooth as possible.
Also the powder coaters may not accept the wheels if you strip them yourself as the finish may not be good enough. If you pay them to do the whole job then its down to them for any issues that may or may not occur.
We had a rear subframe plus a load of other suspension components blasted and powder coated for £90. Shop around

I pay between £7-10 a wheel, which leaves them like new. I don't ever have anything powdercoated, it's a great idea in theory but the risk of cracking/peeling and then letting moisture in is too great IMO.
Tegra Engineering do my blasting, although they're in deepest darkest Kent (Pluckley) and too out of the way for most people!

i did sort out a TMF discount at a wheel refurb place for TMF plus but it seems to be missed off the list, a member of the admin team might be able to find it for you

I have many parts blasted, it's the only way to remove the grot completely.

Yes, they come back in their natural metal state, with a nicely keyed surface ready for primer. Alloys can stay like that for ages until you're ready for paint but steel parts can 'flash rust' in a matter of hours if left in a damp area.
I etch prime mine straight away and leave them in the house unless it's the middle of summer!
