Is this a 998? Looks like you've bought a 1275 headgasket.

correct, it is the 1275 headgasket, but when putting a 1275 head onto a 998 block, you need the 1275 gasket  so the passagways lineup

Its a HEAD gasket. The Gasket needs to correspond to the HEAD rather than the BLOCK casting.

THink about it else you would need a '1293' and '1380' gasket etc aswell

sorry to hijack the thread lee
to be honest Andy I think if I did it again I would use the 266 kent, im not complaining about the 276, its great, but the 266 would be a very smooth drive, mine has tended to bog down a little under 2000 revs, but by 'eck when it gets to 2000 it pulls like a dream :dozing:

my CR is (roughly) 10.5:1

with putting the 12g940 on it has 21/22cc chambers so its up to you if you want to reshape them

because I had dished pistons i left my chambers alone as the CR was already a little lower anyway, then take into account the pockets which again reduces CR

like I say im not dissapointed with the 276 its just a 266 would be much smoother drive and still quite powerful
