Its a similar process really, either way hot wash or dipped you need it doing.

If your stripping the engine down take the lot to get washed - Its probably the best way to start off building an engine. It'll remove all the oil/grease and carbon build up from pistons/crank etc.

surely if you skim the head you'll have to get the block pocketed more to allow for the loss in the skim?

If you're going to wash it, please don't plonk the bits on the floor. You'll get gravel all over the surfaces!

Are you going to get the bores rehoned?

those chrome handles on the left are vital for any serious engine

keep up the good work at least your learning some, id like to get my hands on an engine just to mess with it, i dont fancy doing it on my daily.

If this is your first engine build i would recommend that someone experienced shows you how its done, are you having a crank grind, rebore, cam bearings? everything needs to be super clean, all the big end / main / cam shells need to be lubricated with engine build lube as do the pistons and rings.
Do you have a piston ring compressor, torque wrench these are essential.
If yo have hot washed the rocker assy you probably need to strip it to ensure it is perfectly clean and fully lubricated otherwise you may find it will sieze.
These are only a few pointers to help you build a reliable engine there are many more things to take into account.

Best of luck :)
