Dont take it personally, but if this how you build on engine then dont expect it to last very long!

Ideally to build the best possible engine you need to strip it down completely, have it acid dipped and built in a dumbass friend free environment!

good lad, now get that block off the gearbox, and get it dipped!have the oil gallery plugs taken out and make sure its all clean and paint free
remember the order the pistons come out as they all need to go back in the right bore (unless you go for a rebore and new pistons), also, keep the BE bearing caps mated to its original conrod

Sounds good, make sure there is no paint in any of the oil/water ways. An acid dip is a very good idea.

Engines should be built in an extremely clean manor, the cleaner it is, the longer it will last.

Lee... i know you've cleaned it, just get it dipped.. if you dont you'll regret it.. for the sake of £20-£30 its a fail-safe.. you dont want to put it together and put all your hard work in but lovely new bits and bobs.. then drive it 1 mile down the road and have the damn thing eat itself and then you will spend 10 times that stripping it down again and having to start from scratch... for the want of a quick £20-odd!..

and then you can paint it red, as everybody knows red paint adds 5-Bhp!

ask where ever you get your pocketing done.. they'll know some one.

yes everyone paints the engine red..... 5-Bhp is a lot of a small bore you know! lol

you can paint it any colour you like mate.. yeallow looks nice, just keep your new best mate (who is about to cost you £20-odd) away from the paint! :S
