so basicly my mate was selling his engine so i fort i want to swpa my engine ober for a manual as mine is a auto si i took the oppertunity to get his engine so far he has fitted a fast road and rally cam to it and duplextiming chain and gears .But now i im going to fit a 125 head as im getting thblock pocketed in the next week or soo so i brought a 12g940 unleaded head ,pedal box and gear stick and linkage for 45 pound off a guy who i met at a local show .

spec

12g940 head
998cc block pocketed
light weight cam followers
duplex timig chain and gears
flat top pistons
standard rockers
maniflow manifold
straight pipe to a twin dtm exhaust
hs4 carb with AAA needle
air flowed inlet manifold
K&N filter

also going to my mate garage saturday to steam the head and regrind the valves

also was going to gas flow the carb if i can :)

I am only guessing here as I have never built an engine but the fact that the top of piston has been sprayed painted could be the cause of all the facepalms!!!!

The mating surfaces have paint on... never a good idea.

yeah i know i dont know why he didnt paint it with head on lol how do i get rid of the paint on the piston and off the block surface

You could probably scrape it off with a sharp blade, or a soft wire brush on the pistons.

The only way i'd build that engine up after that is to strip it down and have the block acid dipped.

The paint has gone on everything it shouldn't and has also gone into the oil ways of the block. So you'll end up with specs of paint going around your engine with the oil!

this is true, if i was you i would take the advice, strip the engine down to the bare block and have it dipped, if you end up with paint swishing round your engine it can take bearings out (believe me, ive seen it done on my mates 1330)

prob worth having the block skimmed possibly whilst its stripped down, but its upto to you
