Thanks for posting that pic Pauly, you have made my mind up with what I`m going for on mine. I`m going to order some of those arches this week.

Do you have to modify the arches for those wheels? I`m going for the same just the anthracite centre one`s, offset of ET03.

Thanks,

Dave

depends how low your mini naturally sits, some people have got away with it, some have to trim the metal on the arches.
to be honest you wont know until you put the wheels on.

Maybe a dumb question that's been answered many times but i did a quick search and couldn't find one. With 12x6s do you need to cut anything from the front arches? Because i did for my 13x7s on my last mini. I'm looking to put 12x6s on the new one but am unsure whether they will fit ok without cutting the wheel arch??

Yes, the arches were cut to fit these wheels. I'm not 100% sure it's compulsory, since standard 12x4.5 wheels fit, but as soon as you want to lower a bit the car, leave room for the suspension to play, and put nice arches, I think it all boils down to "yes you need".

Even with cut arches, and because my suspension setup was a bit too soft (the softest minitastic coils http://www.minitastic.co.uk/home1.htm that have a quite a long stroke of 8.2cm back, 6.4cm front) the wheels were scratching a bit on the arches and I had to adjust the frame height.

And don't think spacer would be a good idea, as these wheels already have quite a big offset. Compared to standard wheels they are probably about 2 inches further out, meaning that there is more room between the wheel and the car body with these wheels than with standard minilights.

The tires are 165x60x12 Yoko's on the front (Dunlop's on the back). I kept the tire I had on my original 12x4.5 minilights. The tires are a bit stretched but it works.

Hope this helps!
Cheers

I had to trim metal from my wings for them to clear, any wheel over 12x6 needs metal trimming really.

yeah that helps alot. i guess if i want those im gonna have to cut the arches to get a proper fit.

one last question really about how and what exactly is done because some people talk about cutting for steering clearance and others for suspension clearance, im guessing its a bit of both

sorry for the bad paint skills and for some reason i couldnt upload the picture directly so heres a link http://tinypic.com/v...pic=2livoeu&s=5

but is the cutting just to increase the radius of the arch like i hope is shown what i mean in the pic or is there more to it?

thanks for your help

You need to trim them to stop the wheels catching when steering, mainly when its close to full lock. The ride height determines also how much needs trimming. Its trial and error im afraid. Just dont cut too much off at once.
