When checking for motherboard details I get 000000000000000000000 for motherboard version but manufacturer as Packard Bell Nec. Is there a way of getting via cmd line or is Control Panel the only route?
BIOS is Phoenix Technologies LTD, 20J, 19/05/2006
SMBIOS Version 2.3
Thanks

Check the motherboard, sometimes they have the details printed on the board itself.
“ BIOS is Phoenix Technologies LTD, 20J, 19/05/2006
SMBIOS Version 2.3”
The details above don’t really help I’m afraid
There are bits of s/w that can supposedly find the make and model of the motherboard for you, but they are not always reliable! Someone may have one they know to be reliable... but I don't trust them!

Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF-RH
Any help is greatly appreciated...only upgrade from 1Gb as it was running 95%+ on Windows 7 and running dirt slow.
Thanks.

now wen i find things a little hard to pin down i start the testing process...
can you swap out the ram for some corsair? kingston?.. the value stuff i mean.. as some times they do let defective ram slip through their fingers and im not a big fan of transend ram.. may be your board dont like them either..
go back to using your 1gig and see if its ok.. then borrow a friends 2gig and see if thas ok... i have a feeling your board dont like the jetram stuff

Gone back to the 1Gb and all is fine so far., other than the stupidly slow running Booooh.
Will have to find a willing victim (friend) to help me.
Maybe a new home pc is in order????? or would/could a BIOS upgrade help?
Thanks.

i, personally, would send the ram back and order some well branded sticks.. i think the board is throwing its rattle out the pram.. i stick to certain brands of ram for good reason
COMPATABILITY.. try some kingston value stuff, cheap, effective and very rarely lets me down for a nice quick upgrade...
did you try both stick by them selves by the way?..
screw it.. just send it back and get the kingston stuff.. you'll thank me

Something else to check, if your RAM slots are dusty, give them a clean (compressed air or brush), as if the dust then gets moist due to humidity, it can start causing problems.

Download MemTest86, you'll need to put it on something bootable like a flash pen and then boot from that.
It will stress your RAM to high heaven, if there is anything wrong with it, you'll find out!

From the motherboard it has the following name.
Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF-RH
Any help is greatly appreciated...only upgrade from 1Gb as it was running 95%+ on Windows 7 and running dirt slow.
Thanks.
Neil
I’ve hit a brick wall as regards sourcing a BIOS upgrade, Gigabyte doesn’t list your motherboard in the d/l section of their site...a BIOS upgrade most probably is not what you need anyway.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look. I've emailed Orca to see what they think and about sending back for something decent.
Thanks again. Neil
