im using a mini mig 130 with 0.6m wire, most of the steel is 18swg with the reinforced sections with 3mm steel

Back in the garage....
needs a bit of tidying but this is a picture of the nuts ive welded on the top rail
Posted Image

This is actually the second and third dash ive made. The one without the clock was scrap as the new tool i had bought to cut the hole moved out of adjustment and cut the hole 5mm to big!!

Superb project! Hopefully I'll see it in action one day as I'm just getting into road rallying myself, with a Maestro though not a Mini. Just working out what modifications I need to comply with the regs and trying to source parts - not so easy with a Maestro it seems. Your fabrication is good, keep it up :)

Very nice, I'd like to have a dash like that in my Mini, as I'm going for the rally-look (slowly but steadily)

Time to catch up on my work
I fitted the group 2 arches to see how much i have to cut away for clearance
Posted Image

then proceded to make a ******* up of cutting the edge off the arch on the one end, you can see where ive marked to cut the slots for bending to form the new lip
