What was the weight saving? Also, how come you didn't go for a composite one? I might do this until I have the money for a carbon fibre one.

I enjoy reading through this. Keep at it!

I had one as you will see a bit further back , but i just wasnt happy with the fit , the curve down the side was way out and i couldnt get it to seal and be water tight so that was ditched in favour of the single steel skin one.
Glad your enjoying it

Hey mate project is ticking over nicely by the looks. Thanks for the info of the wiring will be looking into it, might just leave it bare though. See how it goes. I've been rubbing down my doors and boot over the last few days so i can start putting it all back together so it looks like the finished project. What engine you going for then dude?

I've already splashed the cash for mine lol bought an MED 1380 Rally spec engine. that was pretty much the mini budget gone in 1 lol If your gonna compete in the 1400cc class u might want to go 1380 for a bit more power. They are very reliable these days. You thinking of building it your self or u looking to get 1 build?

i had a 1340 built to go in my old road rally car, but as i was running it in the clutch oil seal leaked so we took the clutch back off we noticed the threads in the crank were buggered so i just need to get a new crank and that engine is ready to go

I was thinking about using a single skin steel bootlid for the exact reasons you are- waterproof sealing and better fit! Do you know what the weight difference is now you cut all the webbing out of your boot lid?
