Morning all,
Just replaced the gearbox and clutch on my mini. Put it all back in the car and after turning over a few times it started...

However then heard spraying sound and oil was pouring out from oil filter surround. Lost quite a bit of oil. Checked and bolts are fairly tight so think it could be a new gasket required, only thing is if its just the gasket would oil spray out that fast? Wondering if it could be something else? Hoping to pick up new gasket and oil filter and anything else I need this morning from mra.
cheers
Barney

The oil is under pressure and will get out of wherever it can. New gasket, get the surfaces nice and clear if the old gasket and other gunk. If you run the engine without the dipstick in it would do the same (voice of forgetful experience)

You're oil pressure relief valve is stuck in.... remove the domed nut from the front of the block and try and remove the 'thimble'. make sure it slides in and out freely before refitting the spring and nut, then restart the engine.

Renewed the gasket and checked the pressure valve.

Doesnt leak anymore :))

Just working on a starting issue now.

Thanks Guys.
