i'm biased but yes. The only downside i see is. i really like mini's on 10 inch wheels but the gearing would be all wrong with the micra in. mpg in the 40's i guess and i dont drive it gently

All sounds good to me, currently running 12's anyway, and never drive gently so always get less about 30mpg, although i may have to look into keeping the servo, i like my brakes a little softer

I ditched my servo and realised its much better without it. You can fit almera gearbox which has a much lower final drive which might be suited to 10's

i think my next step is almera box and some cams

Decided to hold off fitting the 1.3 engine for a few months, there's a few shows I want to get to before it comes off the road again.

in my experience, there is not a lot of difference between 10s and 12s, (if you spin a back wheel by hand with either size you will catch your fingers on the subframe, not much difference there then)

My gear ratios spreadsheet gives 3226 rpm at 100km/hr on 10's, 3124 rpm at 100/km/hr on 12's and 2902 rpm at 100km/hr on 13's. (all in 5th using the CG13DE gearbox and a 3.8947 final drive).

The CG10DE has 3774 @ 100kph on 10's, 3654 @ 100kph on 12's, and 3394 @ 100kph on 13's. (5th, CG10DE gearbox, and 4.05 final drive)

Given a difference of 100 rpm at 100km/hr I'm going to keep my 10's.

The Almera Diesel final drive of 3.55:1 would give 2941 rpm @ 100kph on 10's in 5th using the CG13DE gearbox.

I figure the CG13DE is a high revving engine so 3200 at 100km is not so bad... Of course it all depends on the tyre sizes you choose but the sizes I used came from pretty standard fitting mini tyres.

Apparently the later cg10 box that i got (98-00) has a 4.65 fd

Ouch! my calculator has yours doing 4333 @ 100 on 10's :ohno: and 3897 @ 100 on 13's (still ouch) that's with the CG10 ratios shown here: http://www.micra.com...cifications.php

Does that tie in with what you get? or perhaps they changed your gear ratios as well? Seems a lot of revs...

It's not far out, its about 3600 @100 plus or minus 100 for the accuracy of a mini tacho

Hi, Im very interested in doing this conversion with the CG10 (early Gearbox) on 10 inch wheels. Has any one worked out the top speed for the CG10 on 10's or does any one know the max RPM for a standard CG10 so I can work it out. Basically Im after a daily driver that will hapily cruise at 70-80 MPH and be nice and smooth in traffic. Is this posibble from the standard box?. Also is it possible to swap the final drive in the CG10 gearbox to suit 10's rather than swapping the entire box?

Thanks

Why the early box? the larger box is no harder to fit and will give you more options. You'd want the lowest possibile so the 1.3 box

The rev limit is about 6200rpm but it can be removed.

I was thinking about the smaller box believing it would be easier to fit. And at 6000 RPM the CG10 box would be able to deliver 90MPH on 10's (10 + 4.5 + 4.5 inch wheels with tyre) acording to my calculations. To me these ratios sound fine as I would hardly ever be doing 70 MPH.

With the CG10 box and 4.05 diff and a 6200 rev limit I get 164 km/hr top speed. The 4.65 diff brings that down to 142 (both on 10's).

The 3.55 fd from a Almera diesel has about the same effect on 10's as fitting 13's with the std 1.3 diff according to my spreadsheet, I've no chance of finding one in Australia though as they never made it here.

With the CG10 box and the 4.05 at 6200 RPM Im getting 95MPH or 152KPH. So it should sit at 70 around 4500RPM. This is based on the information from the above link. The 3.55 final from the almera would take this to 109MPH or 175KPH. Anyway isnt it just possible to put a different final drive in the CG10 box?
