Is this the easiest of the conversions to do ? also how much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking because I'm really thinking about it now!

The biggest problem with the Micra engine is that no one currently makes an off the shelf subframe, so you have to make your own. I guess that does in fact make it much harder than say a Vauxhall C16SE conversion using an Allspeed subframe.

I've seen him say he did the conversion for under £400.

Yep was sub 400, as said you have to make your own frame but that does save a few hundred quid

Sorry or the thresd hijack guys, it will be quick i promise!!

Im looking for a Nats 2 wiring diagram for a 98 cg13de, in the process of removing donor wiring loom a diagram would be a great help.

Thanks in advance

There was one over on the micra forum a while back but I'm not sure if it's still there. Also a member on here has done a guide. I never had to to bother with it as I ditched the Nissan wiring

Right then the 1.3 started today after a bit of a fight - that's the good news

The bad news being it turns out it has a blown headgasket ( water leaking into a cylinder) and even with it running very hot the compression is 3 bar lower than the minimum allowed. The old tea spoon of oil down the bores confirmed its the cylinders/pistons.

Sooo tomorrows job rip the engine back out

I think this engine is a one off, it's really weird the big ends etc are like new but the bores are worn :-/
my local motorfactors who supply pretty much every garage in the area had never sold a micra headgasket untill yesterday when i bought it.

The company I normally use change £50 but that's a bore and skim. Not used them for a while so got to check prices, it's the pistons which cost a fortune.

Bummer that it needs a rebuild, at least now you will know that everything is kosher in there, (not much of a comfort at this point I guess)

Maybe you could get some CG10 pistons instead to up the compression ratio (if going NA), seems to be common enough and gives a CR of 12:1, I think it's generally combined with cams, allowing it to run on normal pump fuel.

You could also put the CG13 cams on the CG10 in the meantime too as it's supposed to help...?

Are you still thinking of going turbo? maybe it's an opportunity to build the CG13 with that in mind?

Think at the moment the 1.0 will just go back in for now then i'll way up my options, if I can find a smallish turbo then i'll build the engine to match it, nice low compression ratio.

I ditched my servo and realised its much better without it. You can fit almera gearbox which has a much lower final drive which might be suited to 10's

i think my next step is almera box and some cams

ive been led to believe that there is a diesel almera 1.4 running the RS5F30 gearbox that fits the micra engine and it has a 3.55 final drive ratio. be interested to see if anyone has any more info on this.

The Almera Diesel final drive of 3.55:1 would give 2941 rpm @ 100kph on 10's in 5th using the CG13DE gearbox.

I've been doing a bit more research on this, the N12 Pulsar/Almera with the CD17 Diesel engine is the one you're after, this car uses the same RS5F30A gearbox that the later Micras use so parts AFAIK are a straight swap.

It's a 3.55 final drive which gets a mini on 10's within 100rpm of what the Micra would have had at 100km/hr so a pretty good match, and better than 13's

The Nissan parts numbers are:
Final Drive /. crown wheel; 38101 50A03, 38101 M8003.
Mainshaft / Pinion; 32241 151A03, 32241 M8813.

More info about it and other options here (very helpful guys):
http://www.micra.com...messageid=80024

MiniNissan; you work at a Nissan dealer right? Any chance you could verify the part numbers for me? I think the first has generally been discontinued and replaced by the 2nd.

The crown wheel should be 71 teeth and pinion (unfortunately attached to the mainshaft) has 20. All this means that it's a gearbox rebuild to fit it though... not sure of the gear ratios if you get the whole box.
There is another ratio available with the CD17 N14 but it's 3.78 and an N14 so a RS5F31A gearbox so not a straight swap.

If anyone can find these bits reasonably cheaply I'd certainly be interested.... buying them new in Australia seems expensive at the moment.
