Thread revival - breathe, dammit, breathe!

I'm thinking of fitting 4.5" wheels (probably Minilite, or perhaps the 4.75" Minispares Rose Petals, at a stretch I'm even considering a set of CR Rose Petal wheels from Japan!) and fitting 165 width tyres so that I don't have to run arches (flares) to comply with the local vehicle standards that say the tyre tread has to be underneath the vehicle body (or arch/flare as the case may be). My car has Cooper S 7.5" disc brakes at front with spaced drums at rear and will be my weekend drive.

For anyone with experience running this wheel/tyre combination on the road, have you had any problems? Things that spring to mind are wheel weights contacting the caliper, scrubbing on full lock, needing to modify or relieve the caliper bleed nipple. I've read about racers using Rose Petals having to make adjustments to the caliper.

I need to make a decision soon-ish so I can tell my panelbeater what to do with the arch mounting holes.

Thanks in advance :)

I use Minispares rosepetals with the spacer provided and 165widths tyres, 7.5 inch brakes and spacered drums with no problems whatsoever and they fit under the arches. Hope that helps.

Do you mean the wheel arches of the car body itself or arches that you buy and affix to the car?
