Have been thinking about a centre speedo in my Mini lately. Doesn't seem to be all too complicated to make the conversion. Wondered if any MPI owners who had done the conversion had some pictures?
I love the walnut dash, but i think it hides too much (rust especially). And i think the "original" centre speedo looks fantastic!

>_<

Cheers

That looks great! Just the way i've thought about :w00t:
Did your old dash hide rust or any other unpleasant surprises?

Here are a few pictures of mine for inspiration. A carb model, by the way.

Not the greatest angles.

Got an 86 City, with an MPi engine & loom ... with the central clock conversion! :dontgetit:

I've actually got it all undone at the moment, so when I get back into the garage, I'll grab some photos for you!

Beware though - Chopping at the MPi loom results in a HUGE amount of wires that have to fit into the binnacle! ^_^

That looks good as well. But to be fair i think i prefer it without the wooden dash. Not that it doesn't look good but i think it hides too much (rust).

Well made though

Cool i would love to see that! I would also like to recreate the old original ashtray

Yeah i could imagine that there is lots of wires, but i think it is a nice little job to do. Not something that i am going to do at this moment of time though.

Bit late to this thread, but just doing my conversion from a '98 mpi to centre binnacle. Only issue is....

The above guide gives red with green - dash illumination. However, on my mpi wiring loom there is no red with green wire, but a red with white (is that the dash illumination?) plus there is a purple wire....what does that do??!

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for that.

By my reckoning then, it could be the SRS warning light in the dash, being purple.

Also, really helpful with my trying to wire up a reverse lamp from the original light clusters now converted to mk1 style.

;D
