and make sure your the named driver not your folks otherwise youll end up with a massive fine and possible prison
You mean the other way around....

if you have a crash and youve said its your mums/ dads/ grannys car and youve wrote it off they will find out!

if the cars registered in your name you have to be the main driver on the insurance policy or it looks like your doing something called fronting, basicly insurance fraud, which does carry a fine of thousands and a possible prison sentence

It's got nothing to do with who the registered keeper or the owner is, although the insurance company do ask who it is for their records. It's all about declaring who the main driver is properly. If you declare your mum or dad to be the main driver and they're not, then that is insurance fraud (called "fronting") for which you could get a large fine and/or prison. If they really are the main driver then you have nothing to fear.
As Leroy has said they are very likely to catch you out if you have to make a claim and then you could find yourself uninsured as well as helping the police with their inquiries!
I do know someone who got caught out. His insurance company paid out to the person he bumped but refused to pay out on his car, then he got taken to court and was fined. It's just not worth the risk.
