thats the oil warning light to say that theres not enough pressure, when was the last time you checked your oil? also does it come on after the engines got warm? if so it could be your oil pump is kapput

Red is ignition
Orange is Oil

If the orange one comes on whilst driving you have approximatly 3 seconds until the engine eats itself due to lack of oil
CLUTCH DOWN AND TURN IT OFF STRAIGHT AWAY. NO IFS NO BUTS, DOESNT MATTER WHERE YOU ARE

Get out and check it

How long ago did you check the oil?

Is it on when the engine is just on tick over or under load. You should get it looked at sooner rather than later. But you may be able to adjust the oil pressure valve

Can't believe there are 'enthusiast' owners out there driving who don't even bother to learn what the basic dash warning lights mean in a classic car as simple as the Mini............... >_<

Especially considering they are the same basic essential warning lamps that all cars have and you are supposed to know what they mean before you can pass a driving test. The standard oil warning comes on at 7 psi, at that pressure there is already damage being done.

Could just be a knackered switch.

Knackered switches tend to just stick on and not shut off at startup, or not come on at all. They don't tend to switch on and off while driving. It's worth checking the switch but it's more likely it's doing its job.
