Hi, I have these four cams,
Posted Image

Working from left to right, the first has KC567 stamped on it and appears to be FUBAR, the second is a cam I have had for a while in my garage from a random chap, the third is supposed to be a 6648 cam?, the forth is out of an old engine I had from years ago.

Can anyone confirm or otherwise the above and shed any further light on these for me?

The top ones fit for the bin, third one down looks unused, 2nd one looks in OK condition, bottom one A series from a small bore.

Yep, the top one is an ebay mistake.... presumably it's no use for a regrind?

Is the MG metro cam ok with a 998, or is it better to get an MG turbo cam? also, is a 6648 cam a metro one, as thats what its supposed to be.

As Guessworks said.

Middle two are MG Metro, which is basically a Kent 266 Megadyne, in terms of duration. In the words of David Vizard "One of the best cams British Leyland ever produced".

Also the standard cam you have (4th one) is quite old, since it has narrow lobes and a pin drive for the oil pump.

The cam used in the MG turbo was a standard 1275 cam.

The 6648 is a MG metro cam, p/n CAM6648, also used in the carbed cooper.

Hi guys, I know this topic has been untouched for ages. I hope guess-work and others can help me on this.

I know it has 1/4" groove and I am 80 percent sure that this is MG metro cam to me, but I still need confirmation from others identifying if what I bought is:

1. True MG metro camshaft (aka CAM6648, RSP cam, carbed cooper cam)

2. identifying it's condition (I need ratings percentage out of 100).

3. Should I swap this to my car (save costs) or get a brand new 266 Kent instead (don't want to go to 276) since for daily road use with 3.2 FDR.

Thanks guys...
