Anybody know what torgue setting the centre main strap bolts should be?

Made some good progress today it seems although not in the way of photos.

 

Finished off the inlet manifold.

 

 

Then threw it on the head for good measure.

 

 

I rolled the van half way out the garage to give me some more room and etch primed the front panel inside and out.

 

 

Once the paint had gone off stuck it back on.

 

Peek-a-boo.....

 

 

That now means that the whole van is in etch primer.

 

Then humped the block from the garage into the back of the volvo. This wasn't too bad when it was apart but now it's got a few bits back together it's bloody heavy. I then popped off the Jonspeed in Nuneaton to get the main cap machined to accept the Minisport centre main strip. When I got there Andy replied 'Didn't you know I only needed the cap' had I known this I wouldn't have lumped the bloody thing in the boot. He chuckled and let me have the machining for free.   good guy.

 

 

This now means that I can finally mate block to gear box and start getting the engine back together. 

 

It's all coming together. 

 

I might have also found a place to paint it.

I'm an idiot! why didn't I think of that..... One assumes the Haynes doesn't go into engine building detail.

It should be at the beginning of the chapter.

 

A list of torque settings.

 

I am assuming you have a copy?

 

If so, you might read yours before i get a chance to check mine!

You assume correctly my friend. I'll have a look threw the oily pages then.

I always tend to think the haynes manual as a guide to more general maintance.

This is the only torque settings mine has for the engine

Guess a big end bolt would be the same or similiar.

The ol manual is a bit more pants than i remember.

Few more engine bits done tonight.

Carb and head are together finger tight as i need a gasket.



Also mated block to gearbox.

Coming along nice this is mate im loving the inlet manifold,  it don't half make a difference to the overall look of the engine when you spend some attention to detail.
