For the first time in over 10 years the van is now completely solid!!!! massive day in the grand scheme of things. Still a few bits of welding to finish out but at least the major stuff is finally done.

Dressed the welds. It's going to need some filler work but most of it is flat.

Step tacked in.

Chopped the bottom of the inner A panel out as it was rotten.

Swept up and found my pound I'd lost while trying to set the bonnet gaps. Result!

Fabricated the nearside latch on today. I'm quite amazed with myself as it works really well and holds the front on tight.

Just the other side to do and the front is finished. Well apart from the bonnet needs a bit more work to line it up to the slam panel.

Very neat! You going to fit padlocks to the latches as a backup if the latch opens with vibration etc?

Yes will fit padlocks for safety if it comes undone but also for security so no one can knick my nice new front end.

Well couldn't really get motivated tonight. :(

Started to mount the rear doors but haven't got long enough bolts to go through the door.

Tried to straighten out the rear quarter but couldnt get the filler smooth enough for some reason. Will have to sand that back and start again.

Near side scuttle is still annoying me with the gap. Think I'll have to cut it out.

And still have interesting gaps round the bonnet.

Why deflated?

It's really coming on a treat!

Stick with it and try to keep motivated, you have come so far from the person that was disappointed with someone else's bodge to someone who can make their own repairs and do a damn good job of it.

So close....

Putting it down to a long day in the office yesterday I think. Just one of those days!

I have another full day on it Saturday to sand the rear quarter back, fit the other latch on the frontend and finish off the other little bits of welding.

Don't want to dampen the mood anymore bud but will you have good access to the latches once the wheels are on and the car is at your desired ride hight ?? I only ask as I did think about that way to but realised it would be a no go with how mine sits with the arches and wideness

I undertand your concern hoody and i've thought the same.

I 'should' be able to get my arm up under the a panel enough to get to the latch. It might take some laying on the floor but should be fine.

I should be able to get to it from under the bonnet also.

I plan on having the van low but not sitting on the arches so will see.

Plus, how often will you need to remove the entire front end?

I know i wouldn't be!
