Sucks to be me I know! I don't think I got enough penetration for the 3 spot welds so going to seam weld it this time... Bugger shouldn't move then.
Welding wise I've got left:
Front end latches
Rear quarter repair panel
Near side door step
Near side A panel
Load bed needs sorting where the rear door bar goes threw
I might still replace the near side scuttle end as well as the corner looks a bit messy
Few little bits here and there to finish up
The near side step, rear quarter and A panel are all lined up and clamped in place ready to be welded. I've booked a long weekend off this weekend and have Friday and Saturday free to crack on. Hopefully have the nearside welded up Friday and the other bits done Saturday.
Then it should be done on the welding side and onto filling and priming!
It would be fantastic if I could get it painted between now and Christmas and start to re build early Jan.

Had a bit of an issue with the welds on the latch mounting plates. The welds didnt hold so i guess i didnt get enough heat.
i think that will be metel type and coating more than anything

I assume that the latches are in steel not Ali but you could be right.
My mate popped round for a look yesterday and he suggested riveting the latches to the mount plate then welding the plate to the car.

yes they will be steel but if its a hard grade of steel, welding to it will be brittle. and the chrome affect needs to be took off... may be wrong though

if your inner a-panel is OK, you are very lucky, I found the replacement ones are a rubbish fit. I ended up repairing mine after taking it off - had to replace most of where it attaches to the flitch as mentioned above.

also with the laches, it looks like you're welding stainless to mild steel? You can do this with a blended wire, but it still isn't ideal... did you just use normal mild steel mig wire?
