Its a lot smaller than the inner hinge panels edge line where it would meet the wing. Will get some pics tomoz to give an idea. But i think im going to have to do a far bit of bending and shaping.

Bashed a few bit straighter on some of the panels but didn't take any pictures of that.
Smoothed out the door pockets with some filler.
Welded in the seat mount to the floor panel.
And now the biggie.
The next couple of photos show the A panel and hows its not quite the right shape or fit.
So dropped a couple of bolts in the top hinge holes.
The inner hinge panel is well out in relation to the A panel. I guess I can bend and shape this to form the A panel line?
A bit missing from the top lip.
Lower hinge holes a bit off too. Would I be able to drill the holes out?
Another gap where the A panel lip folds over the door step. Not sure whats best to do with this, would again bend and shape it to suit?
So after all that I came in and did some of my other passion.
Cooked dinner.
Chorizo stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon with creamy mash.

A dry mock up with the door in place is needed really as were you place that apanel determines at what angle the door will sit (annoyingly this isnt a factor needing to be considered on mk3 onward saloons grrrr haha)

With that A panel the best solution I've seen before is to cut a long thin wedge out of the panel down the middle to bring the two halves together. Pretty much cutting it in half
Not quite sure i understand what you mean Terry.
Cut the A panel or the inner hinge behind it?

Red Line - the edge of the outer A panel
Green line - the edge of the inner A panel
The green line needs to come more towards the red line, with the technique Terry is saying, I would have to cut the line up the inner A panel and weld it back together?
If that makes sense.
