This little vans come so far over the last 103 odd pages of rebuild thread and its within a last smigin of being something you can be really proud of - keep taking little chunks off the 'to do' list and you'll be on the road in no time!

well things seem to be going backwards more and more.
I no cannot seem to get the facet pump to pump fuel round from the tank to the carb. I realised that I also had the fuel filter the wrong way round.
This is how I have it plumbed in at the moment which i'm sure when I read the instructions is the correct way.
There's power to it as I can hear it ticking when the key is turned to position 2.
I wonder if it's the tank as there is almost 10 litre of fuel in there now.
I also tipped a load of fuel down the carb to see if it would fire. I don't think it's sparking now either as it wouldn't fire.
It was running a peach before I started mucking about with the timing cover and gears.
Back to square one! and more and more doubtful I'll make L2B.
I dont mean this how it sounds but i'm sure you'll know what i mean... but its a relief to see someone else having chew with these! I've had two now and they are excellent. but they seem to get airlocked extremely easy! Trying to get mine running at the moment and every time i need to mess around getting the air out of the fuel pump before i can get fuel pressure back!
Look forward to seeing you have a bit more joy with it! put up with the chew and it'll all start falling together!

First thing he noticed i had one shorter push rod. Gods nows how that happened but must have got the mixed up with some others i had in the garage.
It still wont run though. Got spark and sure we have fuel now ive moved the pump to a different angle.
We sprayed some carb start down the mouth of the carb, turned it over and it spat itt all back out the mouth.
It seems that the engine is blowing out the carb rather than sucking in.
If that makes sense?

Got it all timed up right? Cam and ignition timing?

Going to have a play with the leads in different order see if that makes a difference.

if you take the filter off the carb can you see the dashpot lifting?
I've had a saga getting mine running and it just turns out the float for the fuel was shutting off too early,
Have you got compression?

Finally manage to get it running again at last.
Trouble is it now sounds like a tractor and the timing covers still leaking oil.

Very Massey Fergie SAL, there's something far wrong there.
Here's Doug Lawson's rocker-box sealing method: http://www.theminifo...king/?p=2962209
Personally, I use one of these: http://www.minispare...|Back to search I've not had any leaks using it.

Sounds like the flywheel, clutch end to me. I'm going to reset the tappets just in case it might be them clattering.

can't see clearly from that picture but are HT leads on correctly (sorry, not teaching you to suck eggs).
if 1 on the cap is pointing towards plug one (nearest water pump end) then clockwise on dizzy they should be on 1,2,4 and then 3.
also, getting dizzy 180 degrees out is a mistake I've made before, as there are 2 TDC's and you want the one with slack on tappets 7 and 8 (furthest from water pump) and rotor should then be pointing at plug 1 (water pump end).
and stick a set of those sparky-sparky testers on the plugs; a set of four is something like £10 from halfrauds and always worth having in your spares box
apologies if you know all this and have done it.

Well she's pretty much purring like a kitten now.
This is before I noticed that two of the leads where the wrong way round.

Battery cut off and choke cable installed.
Oil pressure looks a tad too healthy???
Still need to sort out the oil leak from the timing cover though but I couldn't face stripping the rad down again today.
Only other thing I did was to fit the horn and tidy some of the loom up.
