I would use some skin pins so once you have it all lined up then drill a couple of holes and fit pins. Job done plus they wont move around as much as sealant.

With regards to the welding rods weld to the door skin. See this link
http://www.theminifo...nnet-boot-gaps/

Great info again Sonikk were do you keep it all. I'll have to acquire some of these called skin pins then.

Thanks for the link I'll have a study of that over a cuppa at lunch.

Yes they will do the job. Fit one in each flange.

For them skin pins (if its not too late) try LAS Aerospace (www.lasaero.com) as they seem a fair bit cheaper than ebay. I've only just ordered some so cant comment on quality or delivery at the moment. (Not sure if you have found them cheaper already or anything)

Oh.... I've ben enjoying your thread for a while, all be it quietly in the distance :D

Thanks stitch :) Ive not pushed the buy button just yet so will have a look when im not on the phone.

Offered up the skins to the frame just to see how the fit is just resting them on. Off side is almost bang on but the near side is way off. It seems that the door frame flange is to wide for the skin so think i need to shave abit off the flange corners.

Dude...! what you playing at get a move on. :D

I think I've realised what my problem is with regards to the project not feeling like its progressing at all. I don't finish things off before starting on something else, I must have 3 areas on the go at the moment the front door skins, rear door repairs and the heel board. Perhaps if I'd concentrate on just one thing at a time, it will get done quicker and feel like I'm progressing more.

With that in mind I'm going to concentrate on the rear door repairs this week.

Does strange things to you this restoration game.

Clean forgot about this website. The good thing about this site is the ability to be able to order Imperial UNF and UNC bolts / screws that will be ideal for our little beasties and being aerospace spec they are not made from monkey metal.

Good effort for bringing this up. Going to get my shopping list on the go with them.

Just as an example these should be good for the rear subframe front mounts

Its is in terms of rust, however, the side is quite badly rippled which you can't tell from the picture and the roof does have slight crease in it.

Got some time in this evening in what seems like ages to do some tinkering.

I've decided to leave the door skins for the time being and work mainly on the rear door repairs.

Top door frame repair.

Tacked in needs some more work.

Outer skin.

The door as it stands at the moment.

And a shot of the door again and how bright its going to look..... :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: cant wait!
