Found some better pictures of the 850cc BDA :)

Designed and built by Gordon Allen from half a 1700cc BDA (so rated at 850cc). In the 1970's special saloons there was an 850cc class which was full of destroked/overbored 970 Cooper S engines, usually running exotic 8-port heads and the like. This 2 cylinder BDA was a real winner once a few niggles were overcome. It was used by Peter Day in a Mini and also a Fiat 500 (the "Mighty Mouse") Here it is at home in the Mini;

I have a pic from a mini book.....and there was a whole motor on a mini box over here many years ago and that went liks s**t off a shovel..........

there is a bloke in a miniworld magazine who did that ^^^ conversion and used the guy who made that orange clubby twin cam as a guide, if you want to do that conversion, get in contact with him

Bob Fox had a 1300 twin cam. Eric Smith had a 1300 BDA. Jim Dryden had a 1300 SCA. Andy Barton had a 1000 SCA and Sedric Bell had a 1000 MAE.

The first one done was shown (iirc) at the 67 Racing Car Show and was a 1000 SCA. The F2 class had just changed to 1600, so lots of SCAs lying around with no home. By a piece of guess work, this is probably the engine Andy Barton used.
