I know its a different fuel but i no longer get Diesel from Tesco's as my fuel consumption increased by over 6 mpg on a run. The car did not feel right at all. Had it checked to see if there were any underlying problems but nothing.

Emptied it as far as possible and then filled up at Morrisons and back to normal so Tesco's fuel is poo. I was lucky to squeeze 44 mpg with Tesco's but morrisons i was hitting low 50's with ease.

This was on exactly the same route that i drive to work each week so that confirmed it for me their fuel was not of a high standard. I am not the only one to notice this so there must be some truth in the quality of their fuel.

Many people have said to me that ASDA's petrol gives them poor results compared to other petrol station..

talking to a mate from the MOD, he says that the supermarkets buy their fuel from them just as it reaches it's sell by date before it becomes useless.

well i can tell you thats not true... well not for ours anyways... our deliveries are taken from standlow... which is shells main outlet... asda buys the surplus fuel that shell dont use... but its all done on a daily turnover so it doesnt sit there long at all really...

for example, 500k litres comes in... shell decided one day that they need 380k of it... asda will buy the other 120k at a slightly discounted rate to save standlow the bother of dispoising of it... but this is all done very quickly indeed... the next day... another 500k would come in... process would start again...

this however means that the station at my work sometimes doesnt get filled ontime or at all on some rare ocasions... causing us to shut down the diesel and sometimes the unleaded side of it due to stocks running low...

the unleaded we pump out at asda is the exact same "fuel save" stuff that shell is dispencing...

i always notice a difference in power from my local tesco garage and avoid it, apparently they only add a minor amount of additives to refine the fuel compared to other garages ?

i run a frontera wagon on veg oil-it doesnt matter if i buy it from asda or tesco
seriously though, i use the local tesco for my ZX12 NINJA and cant say i've noticed any drop in power or MPG.
