AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Too many question! Lol

Its a fibreglass clubby flip front, wanted a clubby one as its originally a clubman and theres a bit more space under a clubman front. I went for an alloy tanks as i dont really like the outer filler neck of the standard tank and i wanted to mount it in the middle of the boot floor to keep it out of the way when i wrap it round a tree and for weight distribution, plus it looks better than a standard tank!

Fibreglass doors - mine needed replacing anyway so i had to have new ones plus coupled with some nice perspex windows it just seemed the right choice. Is there anything that can be done to help strengthen and prevent any possibilty of them bowing at speed? Its not really too much of a concern at the minute and i'm not looking at going too far above 85ish.

My new fuel tank^^ Came today, round about 6 gallons, did want a bigger one but finding space for that and a spare tyre/anything in the boot would be difficult. Tis very shiney and nice.

Tried ringing smudger today to get a front end but it went to answer phone, is he still trading?

that looks mint!

does the tank have a place for a sender unit to fit into it? or do you not have one with something like that?

any more up to date pics as yet?

The tank doesnt have a sender in it, it has a clear tube on the side to see the level, i wont be having a gauge in the car. I'm going to have to remember to keep checking the level and keep a can in the boot just in case!

As for pics, not a lot to show really, welded in a new rear arch and i've done some welding to the rear seat area, just starting on the boot floor and working out where best to mount the tank so i can still get to the filler.

Just got my new steering rack, wiring loom and a few small bits from minispares. I've bought a quick rack, dont know wether this is a good idea due to have metro front hubs and the possible steering geometry effects but we'll see how it works out. The new rack doenst come with track rod ends!!i was expecting it to have them.

I've ordered a clubby flip front from www.16vminishop.co.uk instead of smudger as he never got back to me(he's probably busy and forgot) and its cheaper/delivered to my door. It should be here tomorow or monday. Thanks to matt for sorting it.

Lol, i keep forgetting about them! Must remember to phone around on tuesday!

The boot floor is now sorted, it just needs holes to bolt the tank down and fully welding on the underneath and its sorted. I've also started reinforcing the rear shocker turrets as i'm using coilovers they want to be a bit stronger, I've put a brace bar between them and will be adding more upright strength. Heres a pic of the final position of the tank and you can also see the brace bar behind it.

Ordered a few more bits today, starter switch panel off ebay, few bits and pieces from demon tweeks and a alloy twin fuel pump bracket and alloy battery tray from the same company i bought the tank from.

Done more welding to the rear turrets and ran out of welder wire just as i finished, so started grinding and got fed up with being covered in sparks! Whichever way you try to point the angle grinder in the boot you always get showered with sparks!!

Need to order some roll cage tubing next week so i can complete all the welding and paint it.

I'm curious have you been in touch with any insurance companies just to get an idea of what it will cost to insure once complete :- just to get an idea of how acceptable the pollicy would be. is it higher than a large bore "a" series?

I made the strut brace myself, didn't take long at all, it used to be a classic range rover steering rod believe it or not. Nearly perfect size once i cut the track rod ends off! Its just a hollow tube, 2-3mm sidewall, the diameter is just right.

As for insurance, havent looked into it yet, its on my to do list (near the end). Jammy's v-tec qoute wasnt too bad, similar spec but more power so i'm not too worried about what this will be, wont be too bad i'm sure.

Yea, my insurance gave me a quote of £1200 of my Vtec clubby. Given that its on a classic policy so it pretty much has to be a second car. Its alot less than I was paying on my 1425, mainly because the Vtec will be standard and the 1425 was massively modified and had such a huge power increase.
