MOT Testers have a regulated poker for proding suspect areas.

How can Hammerite be a bodge? Filler, fiberglass and seam sealer is a bodge!!!

I've been getting old borderline mini though MOT's for years - But what do I know!!!

If you were not concerned about the level of corrosion and felt the metal was strong enough why would you need to paint it and distract the MOT tester from it??

If you feel the need to hide it with fresh paint in a hope that the MOT tester doesn't see it then you obviously dont feel the car meets the miniumin requirement to pass an MOT!

The paint is to protect the floor and slow down the rusting process not fool the MOT tester.

It's like taking a dirty car for an MOT, If it looks uncared for it is more likely to fail that someone's pride and joy.

Simple case of ggiving the tester a good feeling about the car.

Doesnt see what? Surface rust. it isn't hanging or holed from what I can see.

Those floors although don't look impressive from a concours perspective cannot be assessed for an mot as visual inspection is not applicable
The corrosion assessment tool will be used to sound test any areas in question. Painted or not.
The flat end of the tool is for scraping any loose debris so the area can be assessed easier. A wire brushing will do the same job usually.
After that a finger and thumb pressure test is applied if it crunches or deforms in a pescribed area, its failed.
No jabbing of screw drivers or other pokey objects is condoned by the testing procedure, as this is technically criminal damage.
