Hi all, I spent a fair bit of time cleaning up my transfer case and somehow missed the fact it has a broken piece. It is a chunk missing from the inside of the starter motor mounting hole, I'm sure it won't do any harm but I wanted to repair it- can I TIG it up or will the heat distort the casing and cause me problems? If so am I better off using something like JB weld and glueing a repair piece in made of aluminium the right size, or shall I just leave it alone?

Here's a couple of pics:

just leave it, should be fine, you can block the hole with a piece of foam when you've installed the starter if you're worried about debris locking the flywheel

Flywheel removal was my thought too!

Cool thanks, I'm using the car for rallying so don't want any places to let water in and gravel etc so I will block it before I use it by some cold means rather than welding!
