Shell is cheaper than tesco anyway here! Im trying optimax next week. This week i managed 49 mpg with shell 95 ron, as apposed to 33mpg using tesco stuff, and it goes quicker. It will be interesting to see the results!

If it makes that much of a difference, i might have to try mine with some next time round!

Its not going to cause any damage is it, with my engine being fairly high mileage?

just filled mine up with 5 pounds worth of bp ultimate. i think i was about to run out as my engine became v sluggish and kept acting as if it wee about to die. filled it up and he was fine. He seems to be a bit more responsive. i am gunna run him on it for a bit cause apparently it cleans the engine. We will see how he copes!

I've not noticed any real gains from using Optimax, but the engine definitely runs smoother. I'll use it wherever possible, but I've yet to try BP Ultimate - I never see any bleedin' BP garages!

Youll never find optimax in a BP :nugget: . Optimax is a Shell product :cheese:

I just use whatevers the closest garage, fuel is fuel. Never had any problem with tesco fuel, plus you can pay at pump so you don't spend ages there! When I finally get going again I will try and find this better fuel they have there.

fuel is fuel.

I think that most informed people know that statement to be erroneous!!! It has been well documented for years that supermarket fuel is chemically inferior to other brands which in turn are inferior to Shell or BP. I remember covering it in my Engineering HND 16 years ago!!

The nearest petrol stations to me are both Shell... and therefore thats the fuel i use... I've not tried the Optimax in my car yet, used to use it for my motocross bike, but never in the mini.. might have to try it sometime!

i dont know where the nearest shell garage is to me :w00t:

i think it must be down the other end of the county if millsmini uses the stuff

nearest to me is asda or tesco's :erm:

although me and sarah both find we do a lot more MPG on tesco city diesel than any other make of fuel

Indeed - which is why I said I've never tried BP Ultimate due to the lack of BP garages! :nugget:

My lil Mini drinks Optimax all day long and loves it
