Optimax made mine start a whole lot easier... she also feels smoother, and has more poke!

I read up loads on it, and basically, higher RON doesn't burn any stronger, it infact resists explosion under compression a lot better... SO, you can get the timing a lot tighter without pre-ignition ocurring... makes sense to me, anyhoo!

Apparently cleans your engine while you drive too... mine still looks greasy tho!

Just a note if you are after more Octane, Tesco now do 99Ron super unleaded
as far as im aware there are only scattered test sites selling tesco high ocatane petrol and also as far as im aware it doesnt have the cleaning agents the others have.
personally ive used ulimate and optimax, ultimate didnt feel as responsive as optimax.
but its all horses for courses.

If we say, for arguments sake, that the regular 95ron costs 90p/litre... how much would optimax be..?
Guy.

I had the Nissan 200sx (its for sale - clicky) rolling roaded for it and even the tunning place reccommend it
The biggest difference is in the sportier cars, definate improvement
eppecially when used in conjunction with V grooved platinum plugs and a rolling road session power increase of 6% at the wheels, now thats not bad for just changing fuel.

They showed that in a HIGH performance engine the Optimax was the best, as it not only increase power but also torque, BP Ultimate to a lesser extent..
In slightly grunted up motor, hot hatch, then the optimax and BP were fairly equal, IIRC the BP showed a little better...
And in the everyday runabout they made absoutely sod all difference...
I suspect the above is mainly due to the sophistication of the the engine management as much as anything else...

I've always used it*, combined with Castrol Valvemaster Plus, in the Mini, and it was tuned on the rollers on the stuff too. When running the standard 95RON fuel in Germany the difference was noticeable.
So yeah, i'd definitely recommend it.
(* I do have a shell optimax points card too, got nearly 5000 points on it now! Thats £50 worth of free fuel when the time comes!

Put optimax in it for awhile and i noticed that it got worse rather than better.
