Got a strange problem.

I had a rough trip on the H2H yesterday. I suspected poor balance on new 12 revolution wheels or a twisted/worped tyre.

When I checked by jackin up and spinning the wheels they were massively off centre. Tyres and balance were ok.

Removed one and found that the sleeved nuts supplied with new wheels were 14mm diameter and hole in wheels were 15mm.

Has anyone heard of this as a little research shows that th correct nuts are 14mm or larger for 13s, 11/16 think, approx 17mm.

Help, can't use the car for splash dash if I cannot fix and sods law I sold the old ones yesterday.

Matt

That would be nice. Ebay special unfortunately bought from Midland wheels originally I was told.

I wonder if they are revolites as opposed to actual revolutions and as so need diffrent size nuts?

Revolution will say "Revolution" somewhere on the casting on the inside face possibly rear of spokes.

The one revolite I have does say revolite on the back.

Make sure the shank of the sleeve of the nut is not sticking through the back of the rim as they won't nip up.
All my revolutions have been the same size nuts, mini spares do them if they are geniuine Revolution.

Looking at the wheels they have revolution written on them but midland wheel don't seem to list them for sale? A call to them qnd a trip up there tomorrow for oversize nuts may be in order.

Thankfull they are not too far away in southam.

Thanks for the help.

I am pretty sure MWS dont sell genuine Revolutions. Most of the mini specialists will sell revolution wheel nuts, Mini Spares defiantely do as I bought some.

Not having the faintest idea where you live, as I am an island bumpkin, I would point you towards one of these instead of MWS, Isnt there a Mini Specialist in Southam? or have I got the wrong end of the country.

Are they by chance Revolutions for a different car? Maybe 4x100 PCD and someone has bodged them onto a Mini by using undersize (for the wheels) wheelnuts?

So someone has either fitted them or tried to fit them to a car with a 4x100 PCD - I'd bet a pound on a Micra.

You could get fatter wheel nuts and turn them down to size, then you can still use your wheels :P

It depends what type of Revolutions they are as their are 3 different size wheel nuts that fit the different types over the years. Are they 5 spoke Revolutions or 4 spoke Revo's? There were 45degree 60degree & the other I cant remember but the tapper on the nut is different. Try giving mini spares a call and explain which you have, they should be able to sort you out.

Revolutions (at least all that I have seen or owned) have parallel sleeve nuts, with a flat washer to locate and nip up the wheel to the face of the hub. Perhaps some of the RFX type had more standard taper wheel nuts but not sure.

Shame you are having trouble with them, I shan't be buying any more Revs secondhand as every set seems to have a problem.

Perhaps it is possible to sleeve the standard nuts to fit the wheels or have custom wheel nuts made.
MRA could be worth a call but also Jonspeed make up wheelnuts.

Seeing as you can't drive the car why not take a wheel & the nuts into a local mini specialist & get their opinion on whether they are the wrong ones or not?
