The purpose made tool. Careful dremelling & collapsing with a punch or welding on a nut to pull with a bolt are also tactics.

If you have a welder, put an M10 bolt or similar, head down into the bearing and weld it to the bearing lip. You can then put a large socket over the bolt and with a nut and washer on you should be able to pull the old bearing out.

I have just managed to remove mine. I first tried the Guess-Works method as posted in the link above. Unfortunately this just pulled the top lip off leaving me nothing to pull on. Had to buy a dremel and cut and grind little bits and use a punch to bend and snap them off. Just when i was going to give up the remaining piece popped out.

I've just used the link to remove my bearing....came out with no trouble.   :proud: The casing was warm still from having removed the outer race of the 1st motion shaft bearing, so that may have helped

Actually used a pair of M10 stainless steel washers with 3 sides of each ground down.

Here's some factory info on the First Motion Shaft Outer race, their advice is much the same for the Idler Gear Bearing.

Heat is not recommended.

I use a blind puller and a little heat.
Although they are all buggers getting off!

Just for the record, this post harks back to the days when I looked after the FAQ's, and as items were submitted I posted them, can't take any credit... Think the original post came from TurboMinis...

I too have a blind bearing puller...
