Should be fairly easy if you can locate the two Rev Counter wires, one has a round head, the other more flat. They should be located behind the existing dials, just have a rummage.
Does you're mini have a three dial bracket, i.e. does the metal bracket above your two dials extend out either side more (There should be a free screw which can be used to hold the three dials in place)

I'm not sure yet unfortunately she's in for spraying at the moment but this is on my next to do list. I'll have to look tomorrow when I get her back.
So if I need a 3 dial bracket are they easier enough to get and fit?
Thanks

very easy to fit it should just plug and play, remove the old clocks and mounting bracket fit new mounting bracket for the 3 clock set up and then just plug the multi plug into the back of the new clocks, you should depending on year of the car have two wires for the rev counter tucked away in the loom just connect these to the rev counter one is a female spade connector and the other is a bullet connector. job done should take about 30mins start to finish.
If you need any help drop me a message and i can do some pics for you

I didn't realise that the two clock and three clock brackets were the same, I thought that the three clock bracket was longer, in order to accomodate the rev counter??
Removing the two clocks is straight forward and once you have removed the outer fascia the speedo cable and electrical connector plug just need disconecting from the back of the instrument panel. If you do need to change the bracket, from memory it's bolted through the bulk head with four bolts that can be undone from the engine bay side. If you wish to retain your mileometer reading, it's easy to swap the speedo instrument itself accross from the two clock cluster to the three. Simply unclip the clear plastic screen from front of the cluster and then the black plastic clock surrounds beneath, then turn the cluster over and remove the two scews either side of the speedo cable fitting and the speedo instrument itself should just drop out of the casing. Refitting the 3 clocks should be the reverse procedure of removal, with the addtion of attaching the two wires to the back of the rev counter, which should already exist in the wiring loom of a Rio.

avv it the brackets are different between 2 clock and 3 clock. 2 clock bracket as you say is smaller.

Good sounds simple enough, can't wait together stuck in now and do it.
