Well after my first project fell by the way side due to lack of time/skill/money, a 1980 Clubman Estate HERE, I sold the shell but kept everything else, then replaced it with this, a 1977 Clubman Estate!

Posted Image

Much better condition than the first one, 33000 miles, went into a dry garage with MOT in 1996 and hasn't moved since. Was owned by a friend of the family since 1994-ish, we didn't even know they had it!

Very little rust on this one, a small hole on the drivers side sill is the only bit I've seen so far. Got two weeks off after Easter so will spend some time on it then. First work will be to service the drum brakes all round after sitting there for so long. I have a set of 10" alloys with good tyres to put on from the last Mini.

More pics to come.

Very very tidy, cars like that are a joy to work on. Not some old clanger with more rust than metal.

I've got a set of 10" alloys to go on with good tyres all round as these have been sitting in the same spot for 14 years!

I would like to upgrade to the 8.4" disc setup I have in the garage but don't really have the cash for a set of 12s/13s with new rubber so will stick with the 10s and drums for now.

The aim is to get it MOTd as quickly as possible. I have new brake cylinders to replace all round as a couple of them seem siezed and will change the fluid at the same time. Also got a 'stage one' kit coming that I need to adapt a bit to fit the estate.

There's a small hole in the drivers side sill that needs patching and at the moment, that's the only welding that I can see needs doing. I'm just hoping the suspension is in good enough shape to get through the MOT otherwise will have to save for a while before I can buy that.

Lots to be getting on with.

Make sure you register your Mini with the Clubman Estate Register (if you haven't already)

http://www.clubmanestates.co.uk/ (not working for me at the moment) But the forum is here:

Keeping it original or blinging it out like every other estate out there...?

standard-ish to start with, probably a few mods on the interior to make it feel a little more modern, seats, colour, steering wheel etc.

Got these wheels to go on so won't look too out of place.

Well after a little bit of work at the garage, a small bit of welding and some brake adjustment, she PASSED MOT yesterday

Still some work to do on her though, the brakes still aren't perfect and there's lot of rattles and noises about that don't sound quite right. It's a terrible ride as well at the moment so will eventually change all the shocks and rubber cones for new items.

Top speed so far? 45MPH

No, it hasn't been been lower on the front passenger side, I think the rubber cone may have collapsed.

Next week I have ready to fit: hilos, knuckle joints, new rubber cones and upgraded shocks. Looking forward to that

So over the Bank Holiday weekend I fitted:

Second hand GMAX shocks, HiLos fitted and knuckles to the front - couldn't get the cones out to replace so haven't done them yet :proud:
HiLos, knuckles and new cones fitted to the rear, sitting far too high at the moment, just waiting for it to settle down - couldn't fit the GMAX shocks as didn't have the right size nut to fit the top mounts >_<
Sump guard

So, not everything went perfect, but still not too bad.

Up next:

Dynamo to alternator conversion
Waxstat to non-waxstat conversion
Points to electronic ignition conversion

Just got to sell a few bits to fund them first >_<

More pics coming soon.

Big shiney 70 amp alternator fitted :)

Been tarting up the engine bay also as you can see the repainted rocker cover, more pics coming soon with some updates on that.

I have the non-waxstat jet and fitting kit ready but haven't got around to fitting it yet.

Rolling road session at Fast Parts in Croydon on Saturday to get the carb set up a bit better :P
